Chapter 9: E9. The Red Moon Pack

Ten years ago, an assassination stole Damon’s parents and left him something closer to a weapon than a man: Alpha of the Dark Howlers, the pack every rival in North America fears to cross. He has built his world on control, no mercy, no attachments, nothing left to lose. A marriage alliance with the scheming Marcy Redmayne is meant to be another transaction. Instead it leads him to Talia, a wolfless Omega kept out of sight in her own packhouse’s attic, broken by years of cruelty no one thought worth noticing. The moment he catches her scent, something in him recognizes her as his mate, a bond he alone can sense. Every instinct Damon has built his life around tells him to stay untouched. The bond tells him otherwise. Caught between the two, he starts making choices that put him at odds with pack politics, old enemies, and the violence of his own past, all to keep one fragile girl alive. As danger closes in from rival packs and from within his own walls, and as old lovers and buried grudges resurface, Talia’s quiet refusal to be anyone’s victim collides with Damon’s need to possess and protect her completely. What grows between them could be the one thing strong enough to undo everything he’s built, or the one thing strong enough to finally save him.
