“Damn, that old lady beat me again!” Bryan said angrily.
Bryan went home with mixed feelings. He was frustrated because Mrs. Rose had once again defeated him, managing to corner him so thoroughly. His only way to win now was through his marriage to Angeline.
Bryan was furious with Mrs. Rose, but there was nothing he could do about it. Deep down, he was determined to take revenge for the things she had done to hurt him.
“This marriage has to succeed, and I have to have children,” Bryan muttered.
Bryan could see no other way to free himself, his life, and his company from Mrs. Rose.
When Bryan entered the house, he was surprised to find Angeline asleep on the living room sofa.
As he gazed at Angeline, who seemed to be shivering on the sofa, he instinctively grabbed a blanket and covered her with it. He took the TV remote from her hand and turned off the television. Then he adjusted the air-conditioning temperature and turned off the lights, leaving only the small table lamp beside the sofa on.
Bryan looked at the girl he barely knew. He knew nothing about her demeanor, her character, or what was going on in her mind. All he knew was the grim, heartbreaking story he had exploited for his own purposes.
Seeing a strand of hair covering Angeline’s face, Bryan subconsciously reached out to brush it away. However, when his hand was only two inches from her face, he stopped.
Bryan hesitated because he still felt awkward. In the end, he decided to leave it alone.
The man left Angeline still fast asleep. Bryan went into his own room, climbed into bed, and fell asleep.
The next morning, Angeline woke up and began stretching. Involuntarily, she rolled off the sofa and groaned in pain.
“Oh no... I fell asleep here,” Angeline muttered to herself, looking bewilderedly at the blanket wrapped around her.
“Did I use this blanket last night?” she wondered aloud before noticing Bryan, who had already freshened up and was heading toward the kitchen.
Startled by his presence, Angeline quickly lay back down and pretended to still be asleep. Bryan walked toward the kitchen, noticing her childish behavior.
“I know you’re awake. Get up and take a quick shower. We’re going to the boutique today,” Bryan said, making Angeline open her eyes and sit up, looking slightly embarrassed.
“The boutique? Why are we going there?” Angeline asked, only to receive a sharp glare from Bryan.
“Ah... I’ll take a quick shower.” Angeline looked flustered and hurried upstairs to her room on the second floor. Bryan could only shake his head at her behavior.
A few moments later, they arrived at a luxurious, well-known boutique—a place where customers needed a reservation or had to pay a hefty fee just to enter.
Angeline was awestruck, especially when she saw the exquisite clothing on display. As a fashion design graduate, she understood fashion and quality very well.
“These must be designs by famous designers,” Angeline mumbled as she followed Bryan.
“Oh my... look who’s here!” a man greeted them. He acted quite feminine and even dared to link his arm with Bryan’s.
“Why didn’t you tell me in advance? If I’d known you were getting married, darling, I would have designed the most luxurious and expensive wedding outfit for you,” he said, stroking Bryan’s cheek, which was covered in fine stubble.
“My wedding is in five days. Show me the wedding outfits you already have,” Bryan replied coldly, uncomfortable with the man’s touch.
“Why the rush?”
“Kevin—”
“Karen! Call me Karen, you know... Kevin is just too macho for me,” Karen interrupted angrily, glancing at Angeline, who stood there silently and bewilderedly.
“Oh my... your future wife is absolutely stunning, Bryan. You’re really good at finding a woman. Let me take a look.” Karen examined Angeline from head to toe.
She measured Angeline with the tape measure hanging around her neck. Karen was clearly amazed by Angeline’s proportions. She was slim, yet her figure looked absolutely perfect.
“Darling... do you rarely eat? How can your stomach be so flat—practically concave? Where did your breasts go? Why are they so small? And oh dear... your hips are too narrow, honey. I’m not sure anything will fit your body,” Karen commented on Angeline’s physique.
“Luckily, you’re tall, so you’ll definitely look beautiful in the gown I just finished sewing. Bryan, you’re so lucky you came today.”
Karen called over several assistants and instructed them to take Angeline to the dressing room. Meanwhile, a male assistant brought Bryan a gold tuxedo.
“You too, put this on. I love your perfectly proportioned body. You two are sure to make a harmonious couple.”
Bryan said little and did as Karen instructed. He entered the adjacent room to try on the tuxedo she had provided. In less than five minutes, he was done and came out of the room. Karen was left in awe of Bryan’s captivating appearance in the gold tuxedo.
“Wow... how can this tuxedo fit you so perfectly? You’re every woman’s dream, Bryan. Just like a prince from a fairy tale. Now, let’s see the bride-to-be. Is she like a princess from a fairy tale too?”
The curtain was slowly pulled back, revealing Angeline in a white wedding dress decorated with gold beads. She looked beautiful and radiant.
The dress seemed to fit Angeline’s body perfectly, making her look even more graceful. Her face looked even more beautiful as well.
Everyone in the room focused their eyes on Angeline. Even Bryan couldn’t take his eyes off her beauty, which made him nervous and unable to meet her gaze.
“Oh my God! You’re absolutely the perfect couple. All right, it’s settled. Just wear this. You said your wedding is in five days, right? Don’t waste time looking for another gown. Wear this one,” Karen said, looking delighted and very proud of herself for creating such a beautiful dress.
