AYAZ'S POV
As I talked with Mr. Surya, I found it incredibly strange that a woman had suddenly barged in without even saying hello. I had never known he had a daughter. This was the first time I'd ever met Mr. Surya at his home. Until now, we'd always met somewhere else.
Mr. Surya had often urged me to come to his house, just to keep in touch and meet his daughter. I was confused about why he was so intent on introducing me to her. But with how busy I was pursuing my new career, I hadn't been able to grant his request. Then, when I heard he was sick, I immediately felt guilty and went to visit him.
And this is where I am now—sitting in the living room, talking with him, when suddenly a woman in an outfit that...
Ah, never mind. In my opinion, it wasn't even appropriate to call that an outfit. It was far too revealing, and I immediately lowered my gaze. Astaghfirullah...
Even though I wasn't looking at her, I knew the woman was studying me intently. I had no idea what she was thinking. It was rather distracting.
"Thara, I'm talking to you!" Mr. Surya's voice rang out sharply. The woman immediately flinched, then clicked her tongue in annoyance. My God, how could she behave like that toward her own father?
"Tsk, Dad, aren't you tired of constantly yelling at me? You need to take care of your health. Who's going to take care of Thara if you're gone?!"
"I'm like this because of you, Thara. I'm tired of behavior like this. Look at what time it is now! Where have you been all night, huh?!"
"It was my birthday, Dad... Of course I threw a party somewhere else."
I tried not to concern myself too much with this father-daughter argument. They could settle their own business. Just as I was about to excuse myself and leave, Mr. Surya suddenly called out to me.
"Ayaz, I'm sorry our meeting turned out like this. I only wanted to introduce you to my daughter. This is my daughter, Thara. And Thara, this is Ayaz Mahendra."
I gave a stiff nod. Suddenly, Thara looked shocked when she heard my name. I was confused. Why was she reacting like that?
"Damn... So you're Ayaz? Ayaz Mahendra? Oh my God! Do you have any idea? Because of you, I've been compared to you by my dad constantly, from back then until now. He says I have to work hard like Ayaz, be good like Ayaz, be polite like Ayaz. And do you know what really pisses me off and makes me feel like my head is about to explode?!"
I could only furrow my brow in confusion. Thara spoke sarcastically, but I knew she didn't mean to offend me. She even clutched her head to emphasize her expression.
Meanwhile, I saw Mr. Surya rubbing his face. He looked extremely exasperated.
"Dad told me to find a husband like you, Ayaz... Oh no! He even said once that he wanted to arrange a marriage between us. Ridiculous, right?!"
I didn't say a word. I only glanced at her before turning my face away. Yes, she was right. It was ridiculous for Mr. Surya to want to arrange a marriage between us. But I also thought he might have been joking. He hadn't been serious when he'd said it.
"But don't worry. I already have a boyfriend. And I'm sure a guy like you would never want someone like me. Dad says you're devout and deeply religious. Whereas me... you can judge for yourself. The two of us would never be compatible."
I merely nodded as if I agreed with what she said. That only made her laugh loudly.
"Hahaha. I like how calm you are. I hope we can meet again, even if it's only as friends."
Thara left immediately after saying that, and I also excused myself and headed home. From his expression, I could tell Mr. Surya seemed reluctant to see me go. I had no idea what else that look meant. I could only hope that the relationship between him and his daughter would be all right.
