#Chapter 4 A Star Above the Blood Oath
The explosion of light from the clash of the energy arrows ricocheted off the walls of the dimensional corridor, creating dazzling violet ripples. Before the remnants of the flash could fade, three figures clad in dark silver armor emerged from the mist, their mechanical wings buzzing sharply. They were Inquisitors—elite assassins from the Aethelgard Sky Kingdom, sent to erase every trace.
“Vespera of the Abyss Altar,” one of the Inquisitors intoned, his voice cold and emotionless like a war machine. “Hand over the traitor, or your dimensional seal will be destroyed along with your soul.”
Vespera stood tall in front of Caelen, the soul crystal dagger in her hand radiating an increasingly brilliant blue light. Though her heart was filled with unanswered questions about her past, her true instinct as a dimensional guardian took over. She would not let anyone set foot in her path without permission.
“You have no right to give orders in my domain,” Vespera shot back, her voice slicing through the dimensional silence.
Caelen rose and stood beside Vespera. Though his shoulder was still leaking remnants of glowing golden blood, his confident crooked smile had returned to his face. He extended one hand to the side, summoning the remnants of The Primordial Heart’s energy until his palm blazed with golden flames.
“Looks like our elders never learned any manners, Vespera,” Caelen whispered amid the roar of the dimensional winds. “How about we teach them how to respect their hosts?”
Without warning, Caelen shot forward first, tearing through the Inquisitors’ front line with lightning speed, while Vespera used his momentum to swing her dagger, cleaving through space and creating a shock shield that drove the assassins back. Amid a rain of frozen meteors, the battle to reclaim the truth of the past had officially begun.
