“I’m going to kiss you.” Giang Chỉ froze, his cheeks growing several shades redder. He turned his head, unconsciously licked his lips, and then slowly closed his eyes. Ha-ha-ha. Looking at him waiting to be kissed, I couldn’t hold it in and rolled around on the carpet laughing.
“What are you waiting for? Waiting for me to kiss you?”
Giang Chỉ came back to his senses, his face instantly turning stormy as he shouted, “Quý Sơ Nguyệt, are you messing with me?”
I stuck out my tongue at him. “Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh, I’m teasing you!” I teased him until he got so mad he leaned on his cane and threatened to beat me to death.
The two of us bickered and played around all the way back to the Giang family home. Mom Giang smacked each of us on the head, finally making us stop. She scolded us, “You’re married now. Can’t you act a little more mature? Come on, tell me. What are you two fighting about this time?”
The moment Mom Giang finished asking, Giang Chỉ’s face flushed several shades redder. He scratched his head and stammered, “N-no, it’s nothing.”
My voice shot up as I tattled, “Mom, he wants to kiss me.”
I hadn’t even finished speaking when Mom Giang shot to her feet and asked, “What did you just call me?”
A little bewildered, I tentatively called her again, “Mom?”
“Mm-hmm.” Mom Giang happily responded, then grabbed my hand, pulled two gold bars from her bag, and stuffed them into my palm. “Good girl, this is the fee for changing how you address me.”
The two gold bars weighed a full 1,000 grams, making my head spin as they pressed heavily into my hands.
Mom Giang explained that she had originally called us back to discuss buying the five-piece wedding jewelry set for me. Her eyesight was getting worse, and she was afraid I wouldn’t like what she picked out. So she had simply bought gold bars instead. I could take them to a jewelry store and have them made into whatever style I liked.
The five-piece wedding jewelry set consisted of the traditional wedding jewelry: a ring, necklace, earrings, bracelet, and anklet.
After saying that, Mom Giang stuffed two more bars into my hands.
My voice trembled. “Mom, you really shouldn’t—”
“Mm-hmm.” Mom Giang replied excitedly and stuffed in two more bars.
Before long, there wasn’t any room left in my bag. I cried, “Mom, that’s enough! Really, enough!”
“Mm-hmm.” Mom Giang answered again and added two more bars.
Mom Giang’s designer bag was like Doraemon’s magic pocket. No matter how much she pulled out, it never seemed to end. I couldn’t carry everything, so I piled it all on the sofa.
I cried, “Mom!” and Giang Chỉ hurriedly covered my mouth. “Don’t call her anymore. A few more times and our family is going bankrupt!”
I slapped his hand away and grabbed Mom Giang’s hand tightly. Giang Chỉ asked her with tears welling in his eyes, “Mom, do you want grandchildren? Do you prefer boys or girls? One kid or three? I’ll keep having them until you’re satisfied!”
Mom Giang was overjoyed. She squeezed my hand and smiled as if I’d said exactly what she wanted to hear. “I’m not picky. As long as it’s Giang Chỉ’s child, I’ll be happy.”
I nodded solemnly.
After dinner, I found some plastic bags, wrapped up all the gold, and dragged Giang Chỉ home. As soon as we arrived, I shoved him onto the bed. Two steps, one action—I stripped off every bit of clothing on his upper body.
In the middle of the chaos, I even took the opportunity to give his abs a good feel.
Giang Chỉ grabbed the hand that was reaching for his belt. His voice trembled slightly as he asked, “What are you doing?”
I answered decisively, “Making a baby.”
My advances were stopped. He turned his head away, his Adam’s apple bobbing slightly. When I saw how unwilling he was, I pouted and flopped down beside him. “Fine, if you don’t agree, forget it.”
“No, that’s not it.” Giang Chỉ hurriedly turned back and said, “I just wanted to ask if the men in your phone are really your ex-boyfriends.”
So that was what had been bothering him.
I laughed. “I was just choosing the male lead for the movie Giữ Quân Hành.”
Giang Chỉ let out an “Oh,” seeming secretly pleased.
I glanced over without thinking and happened to catch the smile that hadn’t yet faded from the corners of his lips. He tried to hold back his laughter, coughed lightly, and asked, “You’re not going to keep going?”
I curled in on myself. “Keep going with what?”
Giang Chỉ lifted his sprained leg. In a voice as soft as a mosquito’s buzz, he said, “I twisted my ankle, so it’s not very convenient. So, you’ll have to do the work.”
He tentatively reached over and lightly poked my waist, scratching the exact spot that made me ticklish.
I couldn’t hold back and burst out laughing.
Immediately, his hand grew bolder. He wrapped an arm around my waist and guided me onto his lap.
Giang Chỉ struggled for a long time before finally forcing out a sentence like this: “Then—”
The very next moment, he grabbed the back of my head and roughly kissed my lips.
A chill wind swept across my waist, as if a fish were thrashing violently inside me, stirring up an endless storm.
