“Don’t be ridiculous. No way. I’m not his type.” Diandra waved all five fingers in the air.
“Who says? You’re just clueless!” Vita grumbled.
“Whatever. It’s not important. What matters is, I’m definitely going to pay him back.”
“How much were the shoes?” Vita asked curiously.
“Five hundred thousand!”
“Damn, that’s expensive, Dian.” Vita was shocked.
Diandra raised her index finger when she saw that the New Student Orientation activities were about to begin.
“Good morning, everyone,” greeted Rizal, the Student Council vice president.
The new students, already seated on the assembly field, called back. Vita and Diandra sat in the third row.
A moment later, the Student Council president entered the field with a cold expression that looked both stern and authoritative. He swept his gaze across the students, then stopped at one point.
“Diandra Adelia Khairunissa, come forward!” he commanded.
Diandra immediately stood and brought her assignment to the front.
A faint smile appeared on Rafa’s face when he saw that Diandra was wearing the shoes he had given her.
“Is the assignment finished?” he asked expressionlessly.
“Yes, Senior. All one hundred pages are here—nothing missing,” Diandra replied, immediately showing them to him.
Rafa looked at the first page. He examined every word of Diandra’s writing.
“Your handwriting is pretty neat. Good job!”
“Thanks, Senior.”
“So, what lesson did you take away from it?”
“Huh?!” Diandra scratched the back of her neck. “Dian’s going to focus and pay attention to the material,” she answered with an awkward smile.
“Good, if you understand. Go back to your place!”
“You’re not going to count them first?” Diandra furrowed her brows.
“No need. I’m not looking at the number of pages, but at the effort you put in.”
Huh?! That’s it? I stayed up all night writing until my hand cramped, and he only looked at the first page? This guy is seriously annoying, Diandra thought irritably.
Various lessons were given, and guidance and instructions for the new students were delivered. After that, the ringing of the break bell echoed across the field.
“Okay, everyone. Tomorrow, we’ll hold extracurricular activities along with the closing ceremony. So, if anyone has a talent, you can perform tomorrow. Report your name to Senior Cindy.” Rizal pointed toward the female senior standing beside Kevin.
The girl named Cindy smiled sweetly, revealing both dimples. Cute.
Diandra walked over to the table. “Senior, I’d like to join the talent show.”
“What kind of performance?” Cindy asked.
“I want to play music and sing.”
“Senior Rafa!” Diandra called.
Rafa, who was sitting and eating with his friends, turned around. “What is it?”
“Can I talk to you for a moment?”
Radit nudged Kevin’s arm, and Kevin signaled for him to be quiet by pressing a finger to his lips.
“Go ahead.”
“I don’t feel comfortable talking here, Senior.”
“Can’t you see I’m eating?”
He’s so rude, Diandra thought irritably.
“In that case, never mind, Senior. Sorry for bothering you, Senior!” Diandra hurried away with a sour expression.
“Rafa, it seems pretty important. You should go talk to her later,” Kevin said.
Rafa didn’t answer. He continued enjoying his bowl of meatball soup.
“She’s pretty too. What’s her name? Can I make a move on her?” Radit asked while chewing on a cracker.
“Shut up!” Rafa immediately stood and left his two friends. He had suddenly lost his appetite.
“Hey, who’s paying for the meatballs?”
“Everyone pays for their own,” Kevin echoed as he stood up.
“Wait, I thought you were treating us,” Radit protested.
“You brought this on yourself by making Rafa mad. You should know better!”
“What?! What did I do? I was just talking! Could Rafa actually like that new student?”
Kevin merely shrugged, took a sip of his remaining drink, and left.
“You’re paying for yours too!”
Radit gaped, staring at Kevin’s back as he casually walked away.
The boy clicked his tongue softly. “Just my luck. There goes more of my snack money. Damn you, bestie.”
