Obsidian Nightclub, located on the ground floor of Bastian Hanggara's elite entertainment district, throbbed with deafening bass. Strobe lights flashed wildly, sweeping over hundreds of human bodies dancing in a sea of alcohol, expensive perfume, and sweat.
To humans, this place was an earthly paradise. But to Alpha Raga, it was a revolting sensory assault.
Raga strode through the crowd like Moses parting the sea. His tall body, wrapped in a three-piece black Armani suit, radiated such a dense predatory aura that the humans around him unconsciously moved aside to clear a path.
Behind him, Beta Kael followed on full alert. His sharp eyes watched every corner of the room, scanning for threats from beneath the charcoal-gray suit he wore.
"The smell in here is disgusting," Kael muttered through a wireless communicator no bigger than a bean in his ear. "Too many synthetic chemicals. Are you sure she's here, Raga?"
"She's not in this room, but her scent clings to the people who work in this building," Raga replied flatly, his voice so quiet that Kael's supernatural hearing still caught every word.
Raga's golden-red eyes, now hidden behind dark brown contact lenses, swept over the crowd. His wolf instinct tracked the faint yet unmistakable remnants of vanilla and blood, leading him toward the VIP area guarded by heavily built men.
### The Executioner's Eyes
On a mezzanine hidden behind one-way glass, a large man with a scar slashed across his face sat back in a command chair.
Gideon, Bastian Hanggara's right-hand man and head of the syndicate's security, stared sharply at a row of high-resolution CCTV monitors. Around him, a dozen security operators monitored every corner of the nightclub.
"Boss Gideon, there are two suspicious men in Sector B," one of the operators reported, his fingers rapidly typing on the keyboard to enlarge the image on the main screen.
Gideon narrowed his eyes. On-screen, two sharply dressed men were walking toward the VIP area. Their clothes might have been worth hundreds of millions, and their handsome faces had already drawn the attention of many socialites in the club, but Gideon knew something was off.
The way they walked... too quiet. Too balanced. They weren't moving like humans looking for entertainment, but like apex predators mapping out their hunting territory.
"Look at the eyes of the man in front," Gideon ordered coldly.
The operator zoomed in on the footage of Raga's face. When the strobe flashed directly across the Alpha's face, the camera caught a strange reflection in his pupils—a brief golden glint the contact lenses failed to conceal.
Gideon gave a thin grin, revealing a row of white teeth. His large hand reflexively touched the grip of the short-barreled rifle hidden beneath his suit—a rifle whose every bullet was loaded with shards of pure silver.
"Wild dogs," Gideon hissed. "They're getting bold enough to enter our backyard."
"Should we send a team to drive them out, Boss?" the operator asked, looking tense.
"No. Leave them alone. Mr. Bastian just ordered us to find out which wolf wounded Elara tonight," Gideon said, his eyes never leaving Raga's figure on the screen. "Looks like the culprit came here to deliver himself straight to the grave."
### Silent Challenge
Downstairs, Raga stopped exactly three steps before the VIP area's security desk.
His wolf suddenly growled low in his chest. Raga could feel a hostile gaze piercing the back of his neck. Not the ordinary stare of a human filled with curiosity or lust, but the killing gaze of someone accustomed to taking lives.
With a slow, calculated movement, Raga looked up.
His gaze cut through the club's uproar, passed beyond the blinding lights, and locked directly onto the black dome-shaped security camera mounted on the mezzanine ceiling.
In the control room, Gideon held his breath. The man in the black suit on-screen looked as though he were staring straight into Gideon's eyes, piercing through the camera lens with an intensity that made the mafia executioner's skin prickle for a moment.
Raga smiled crookedly—a smile arrogant and brimming with menace. He slowly raised a hand and straightened his silk tie, a simple gesture that Gideon read clearly as a declaration of war.
"Kael," Raga whispered without taking his eyes off the camera. "We're being watched by the mafia's guard dog. Get ready. We may have to dirty our suits tonight."
Kael merely snorted softly, the muscles beneath his suit tensing as he prepared to shift at any moment. "As you command, Alpha."
This indirect encounter had become the trigger. The first spark between the ruler of the concrete jungle's shadows and the absolute king of the border forest had now ignited, and Elara was the ticking time bomb caught right between them.
