Viona let out a heavy sigh before continuing her story.
"Now you understand, right, El? Why I hate Eagle so much."
"Yes, Miss. I understand. But was it really all Eagle's fault?"
"Yes. I've found out everything. Eagle made a deal with a woman named Hellen. That whore helped Eagle with his business on the condition that he would pave the way for her to get close to my dad. And after she succeeded, she manipulated my dad into divorcing Mom. He stopped caring about me too, even though I'm his daughter."
Disappointment and heartbreak were plainly visible on Viona's face.
Elkan let out a long sigh before asking another question.
"Then what do you want to do to Eagle, Miss Viona?"
"I want to destroy all his businesses and make him poor. After that, I'll cripple him for life."
Elkan froze. He hadn't expected the beautiful girl in front of him to hold such deep hatred.
"Elkan."
"Yes, Miss."
"If I could never see again, would you help me get revenge?"
This time, Elkan didn't think for long. He answered Viona's question immediately.
"Of course, Miss. I will definitely help you destroy that man. If necessary, I'll get rid of him."
Viona was slightly shocked by Elkan's answer. But she still wasn't convinced that he truly wanted to help her.
"Why do you want to help me, El? Or are you just trying to ease my mind?"
"No, Miss. I truly want to help you."
"For what reason? Isn't this job pretty dangerous?"
"I just want to atone for a mistake I made in the past."
"A mistake?"
"Yes, Miss."
"What mistake?" Viona asked curiously.
"A long time ago, I made a mistake that caused a girl to go blind, Miss."
"Huh? How?"
"I only wanted to cross the street, Miss. But I didn't see a car speeding toward me. To avoid hitting me when I suddenly crossed, the girl swerved, causing her car to flip over and leaving her blind. I feel terribly guilty."
"What happened to that girl?"
"I don't know where she lives now. Her family moved her out of town."
Viona fell silent, feeling the sadness of the girl Elkan had described.
"What would you do if you met that girl?"
"I would apologize and atone for all my mistakes. If she could have my eyes, I would willingly give them to her. If she asked me to die, I would do that too."
"No, that's not right, El. None of it happened on purpose."
"But I still feel guilty, Miss. So, to atone for what I did to her, please allow me to serve Miss Zoya."
"But I'm not that girl, El."
"That's all right, Miss. Just pretend the two of you are the same person."
"Fine. Do whatever you want."
"Thank you, Miss."
Viona nodded. For some reason, she no longer felt irritated by Elkan's presence in the house.
That night, Elkan read a serialized story from an app so Viona wouldn't get bored. The story he read was exactly like her life.
"El, what was the title of the story you read earlier?" Viona asked.
"The title is The Blind Girl's Caregiver, Miss."
Viona fell silent. For some reason, she liked the story.
"Why don't you keep reading?"
"It's a serialized story, Miss. I'll read more tomorrow once the next update is released."
"It's exciting, isn't it, El? It's similar to my life story."
"Yes, Miss. There are plenty of other stories that are even more exciting."
"Oh, really?"
"Yes, Miss. If you'd like, I can read you a story called The Wild Girl Tamer. Would you like that?"
Viona looked excited.
"Yes, I would."
