Bang.
The three people inside the house were startled by the door being thrown open.
“Stop.”
A man’s deep voice halted the three people who were about to leave the house.
“Who are you? Don’t interfere. Move aside.” Carla waved her hand.
“I’m her future husband. I’ll pay off all her debt.”
“She belongs to me now. There’s a price you have to pay to free her.”
“How much?” Angga stepped forward, approaching Carla.
Carla eyed Angga suspiciously, pulled a piece of paper from her bag, and handed it to him.
Angga’s eyes widened. “Her debt was only fifty million. Now it’s five hundred million?”
“Don’t talk so much. If you don’t want to pay, move aside!! This girl is beautiful. I can make more than five hundred million off her.”
“Fine. I’ll pay. Come to my office tomorrow. I don’t have any cash on me right now.”
“What guarantee do I have that you won’t run?”
“You don’t know who I am?” Angga took a business card from inside his jacket and handed it to Carla.
“Oh, so you’re Mr. Angga, the one businessmen are always talking about? I thought Mr. Angga was already old. You should drop by my place sometime. We provide all kinds of pleasure for men.” Carla’s hand touched Angga’s broad chest, but before she could move it, Angga caught her fingers.
“I don’t like women touching me.” Angga roughly shoved Carla’s hand away.
Carla’s lips curled, and a snort escaped them. “Okay, Mr. Angga. I’ll see you at your office tomorrow at ten.” She gave Angga a sly wink.
“Put her down. Let’s go home.”
After everyone had left, Angga stood there, staring at Kinanti’s peacefully sleeping face on the sofa.
The morning sun shone brightly. Kinan blinked awake and suddenly jolted. “Oh, God, I’m late for Fajr prayer.”
But she was a little dazed, realizing this wasn’t her room. She tried to remember what had happened, then suddenly covered her mouth with both hands. Her eyes widened sharply.
“Oh, God, Mamih Carla must have brought me here. What am I going to do?!”
Kinan pressed herself against the door, trying to listen in on what was happening outside the room. Then she turned toward the balcony door and looked around. It was deserted.
The girl tried to climb over the balcony railing, stepping onto its narrow edge and attempting to climb down. Her eyes stayed focused on the small footholds along the balcony.
Then a hand clamped around her wrist and deftly hauled her back up onto the balcony.
“Ahh… Let go!” Kinan screamed. “Please, Mamih, please! I don’t want to be sold!”
Kinan blindly pummeled the person who had dragged her back to where she’d started.
“Stop!” Angga’s deep voice put an end to the violence of Kinanti’s hands and feet.
The girl swallowed. “Sir, please help me. I don’t want to be sold to this red-light district.”
“Hmm…” Angga stood up and brushed off his clothes. He turned his head and looked at the man behind him.
The assistant came closer and handed Kinanti a piece of paper.
“Please sign here, miss. Then all your problems will be taken care of.”
“W-where am I right now, sir?” Kinan asked cautiously.
“You’re in my house. But if you refuse to sign that paper, I’ll have no choice but to take you to Carla.” Angga’s voice was clear and serious.
Kinan lowered her head and read the contents of the paper. It was the cooperation contract Angga had offered her yesterday.
The girl looked at Angga fearfully. “Sir, I want this clause removed.”
Angga glanced at the paper. “Why should I pay that much if I can’t enjoy the benefits?”
Gulp.
Kinan swallowed. “Yes, sir, I know, but can we put that off for now?”
Angga refused to look at the girl in front of him. “Sign it quickly if you agree. I have a lot of work to do. Besides, you have to work. Remember, I don’t like employees who show up late.”
Kinan searched for a clock. It was already seven. “You have one hour to get to the office,” Angga said, sitting in a chair near the window and staring intimidatingly at Kinan.
Kinan looked back and forth between Angga and his assistant. Oh, God, isn’t there any other way? the girl pleaded silently with the God whose commands she so often neglected.
“One more minute.” Angga rose from his seat, looked at the watch on his wrist, then at the girl still sitting on the floor. When Kinan showed no reaction, Angga walked toward the door.
Kinan’s mind went blank. She couldn’t think anymore. It seemed there was no way out besides this. With trembling hands, she quickly signed the paper she was holding.
“Sir, wait. I’ve signed it.”
Angga’s lips curved into a smile as he continued walking without looking back. The assistant took the paper from Kinan’s hand.
“Take care of everything. By tonight, I want to be with her.”
Kinan’s mouth fell open. What a perverted, crazy boss, taking advantage of someone when she’s vulnerable, Kinan cursed silently. He already had a wife, but he was still shamelessly checking out other women. What a red flag—manipulative and seriously deranged. Kinan couldn’t stop cursing Angga, but only in her head. Once the door closed, the girl punched and kicked at the air.
After Angga left, several female attendants entered.
“Miss, we were told to give you a full-body treatment.”
“But I have to go to the office. I could lose my job if I don’t show up.”
“Mr. Angga said you’ve been given one week of marriage leave.” Angga’s assistant appeared in the bedroom doorway.
“Whoa, damn. What a freaking idiot. He’s really planning to get busy with me tonight.” Once again, Kinan cursed Angga.
