The car sped down the road. Angga remained silent, ignoring Kayla's chatter. His hands clenched as he thought about Kinan having slept with Bram. Who didn't know Bram? The man was a crotch connoisseur; there wasn't a woman Bram wouldn't 'use' once she took on the status of his girlfriend.
Angga tried to calm the turmoil in his chest. Could he accept Kinanti if this girl had already given her honor to another man?
Could he really let his seed fertilize Kinanti's fetus if that woman had already been defiled? Angga's mind was filled with the belief that a woman had to be pure.
At last, the car arrived in front of a house more magnificent than Angga's. "Come on, get out."
Kayla got out and ran toward Anwar, who was enjoying tea in the yard while reading a business magazine.
"Grandpa, I'm heading out," Angga said after kissing Anwar's hand.
"Bring your wife here tonight. We'll have a family meeting. Grandpa wants to meet her."
"Yes, Grandpa."
The man left after kissing the little girl sitting on Anwar's lap.
Angga heard Kayla telling Anwar about meeting another mommy at her house. A smile curved Angga's lips as he remembered Kinanti. Surely, as far as Kinanti knew, he was now a homewrecker.
"Ki, are you dating Mr. Pras??"
"No way. He's already married. I don't want to be labeled a homewrecker. It's not like there aren't any single men around. I'd rather become an old maid than a homewrecker."
Remembering the past made Angga's aura glow, but a moment later, anger flashed across his face.
Kinanti sat on the bed, clutching her phone. Her thoughts grew even more chaotic after hearing what Angga had said earlier. Angga must think she was a cheap woman.
Kinan sighed and lay down on the mattress. She fiddled with her phone, looking at the missed calls and dozens of messages from Nindia.
[I’m safe from the debt collectors, but now Mr. Angga is my threat. I’ve become Mr. Angga’s prisoner, Nindi. 😭] Send.
[I’ve been given a one-week leave to satisfy him, Nind. 😭] Kinan added a crying emoji to every message.
The messages were sent but Nindia hadn't read them yet. She must be in a meeting, Kinanti thought.
She got up and walked from the bed to the balcony, where she saw the flowering plants blooming below. A smile spread across her lips. She stepped out of the room and went down the stairs toward the flower garden. She sat there, breathing deeply and praying to the God who created the universe to give her a good life.
Two men sat facing each other, staring one another down. The shock in their eyes was unmistakable.
"It's a small world, bro. We meet again here. And you—damn, you look amazing. I never thought you'd become this successful."
Bram smiled warmly, full of charm. Nindia never took her eyes off the man in the blue shirt.
Angga didn't respond to much of the chatter spilling from Bram's lips. Professionally, Angga was forming a partnership with Bram's company. He no longer cared about the past. Business was business, in his opinion, and they had to work together regardless of their history.
Bram stood after everything had been agreed upon and shook Angga's hand. "I respect you, bro. Besides, there are plenty of women out there. One Kinanti can't ruin a business deal, right, bro?!" Bram's smile was brimming with confidence.
Angga merely gave a faint smile and didn't respond.
"All women are the same. Once we've had our fill, we can easily toss them aside."
Angga's expression instantly changed. "If there's nothing else to discuss, I'll be leaving."
The athletic man left Bram behind, followed by Nindia, who was shocked by what Bram had just said. Kinan? Was the Kinan he meant her friend? Why had Mr. Angga suddenly tensed up like that? Nindi wondered.
"Take a cab home. I have something else to take care of."
Angga's cold voice sounded frightening to Nindi. It was the first time she had ever heard Angga Wijaya Kusuma speak without a trace of emotion.
The mother of one nodded in understanding. She sighed resignedly and called a cab from the line of taxis in the designated parking area.
"Take me home, sir." Angga ordered the driver to take him home.
He couldn't control his emotions. He was frustrated that he couldn't control his feelings. His jaw tightened, and his hands clenched in anger. The man closed his eyes, trying to control the jealousy that had taken over him. Why did he still want Kinanti? Was this love, ambition, or obsession? Angga's head buzzed with questions.
Inside the bedroom, Kinan hummed to herself. After two days here, she was like a queen. The girl came out of the bathroom wearing only a towel, intending to pray to her Creator.
Whatever path life took Kinanti down, she would never abandon her five daily prayers. She needed her God every moment.
The woman checked herself in the mirror, gazing at her reflection. Her lips curved into a smile, and her heart felt light.
But then.
Bang.
Kinanti jumped in shock and turned toward the door, tightening the towel wrapped around her body.
"M-Mr. Angga." Kinan quickly put on her prayer garment, covering her beautiful body.
Angga strode over, grabbed Kinanti, and shoved her onto the bed.
"M-Mr. Angga, I want to pray. It's already one o'clock." Kinan struggled to swallow as she saw the anger on Angga's face.
Without answering, Angga gripped Kinan's chin, leaned closer, and forcibly kissed the girl as she tried to pull away. But what could she do? She was only a girl, unable to fight back against a furious man.
Her prayer garment had come off. The man glared at the woman curled up on the bed, tears streaming down her face, her heart full of questions about why he had suddenly come there in such a rage.
"I just want to erase everything that man left behind." Angga's voice was low and heavy with emphasis.
"What man?! I've never allowed any man to touch my body." Kinan looked at Angga, her voice trembling with anguish.
"You think I believe you?" Angga once again pinned the girl beneath him.
