Everything happened exactly as the young man had imagined.
Felix drew in a breath, then let it out heavily. There were still only a few new members of the Olympiad Club in this classroom, nowhere near the fifty forms they had collected during registration.
“Wulan, how many people do we have?” the young man asked, glancing at the girl who was sitting casually on the floor in front of the classroom.
“Umm... only twenty, Lix,” the girl replied, showing him the attendance sheet the new members had filled out.
Felix rose from his seat and let out another frustrated breath. “Whatever. I guess we should just start, right? Better than waiting around forever.”
Wulan nodded, giving the club president permission to open the meeting.
“Good afternoon, everyone. Welcome to the Olympiad Club, the perfect club for improving your grades in different subjects.”
The young man swept his gaze around the classroom before continuing. “Before you’re assigned to a specific subject, you’ll have to take a preliminary test next week.”
One of the students raised a hand. Though hesitant, he forced the words out. “Excuse me, upperclassman... how exactly will the test work?”
“Like this.”
Wulan, who had been paying attention the whole time, began to stand. She glanced at Felix to signal that she would take over the question.
“There will be two subject groups on the test: science and social studies. So you have to take one of them, or both if you want. You’ll have ninety minutes to answer sixty questions.”
Another student raised a hand. “Upperclassman, what if I’m from the social studies track, but I want to take Biology or Math? Is that allowed?”
Wulan nodded once before answering the young man’s question. “Of course! Just so you know, our club president handles three subjects: Physics, History, and Geography.”
None of the students could hide their admiration for Felix Altair Adilaya’s perfection. With his incredible intelligence and intimidatingly unapproachable attitude, it was no wonder so many people were curious about him.
“Okay, does anyone else have any questions?!” Wulan called, interrupting the new Olympiad Club members’ daydreaming.
Not a single person raised a hand, a sign that they understood the information they had been given.
“All right, we’ll stop here for now.” Felix stepped forward a few paces. “We’ll postpone the introductions until Saturday. So get yourselves ready, because a faculty adviser will be joining us. More information will be announced in the group chat. Upperclassman Wulan will make the group later. Oh, and don’t forget to add any friends who joined this club but couldn’t attend today to the group chat.”
Hearing that, the new Olympiad Club members could only nod helplessly.
“Okay, you’re free to go.”
A few minutes later, only Felix and Wulan remained in the classroom. “Were you even planning to gather the new kids or not?!”
“How was I supposed to plan anything? Less than half of them showed up,” the young man muttered without the slightest trace of guilt. He began packing up his school supplies, slinging his bag over his shoulder, and walking toward the girl.
“What about you? Why did you come with me? I already told you today’s gathering wasn’t mandatory for upperclassmen.”
“Because you’d definitely trip over your words trying to explain everything, you know!”
The young man merely shrugged and slowly started walking outside.
“Felix, wait for me!”
“Hurry up!”
“Why do you always love leaving—”
Wulan’s irritation was cut short when the young man casually clapped a hand over her mouth. Wulan gasped and pounded on Felix’s arm, trying to make him let go.
“Ugh—what are you doing, Lix?” Wulan protested, her cheeks growing redder by the second.
“Lan.” Felix looked at the girl before continuing. “Go on home first.”
