“SORRY! I DIDN’T DO IT ON PURPOSE!” Dafa shouted, panicking out of his mind. With lightning-fast reflexes, he turned his back to Anggun and clamped both hands over his tightly shut eyes. His face instantly turned bright red, like a boiled crab.
Anggun, in an absolute panic, immediately grabbed her bedsheet and yanked it with all her strength until it covered her entire body from chest to feet. Her breath came in ragged gasps, anger and embarrassment blazing across her face.
“WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU LOOKING, HUH?! YOU’RE A PERVERT, AREN’T YOU?!” Anggun raged in a shrill voice.
“I swear to God, Auntie! Her bedroom door was open! Ivan told me to go to the bedroom—”
“SHUT UP! DON’T LOOK!” Anggun cut him off, grabbing the thick blanket and immediately throwing it straight at the back of Dafa’s head. Thud! The blanket covered Dafa’s head and face. “CLOSE YOUR EYES AND GET OUT OF MY ROOM RIGHT NOW!”
With his head wrapped in the blanket, Dafa flailed around, searching for a way out. “Sorry, Auntie! I’m so sorry! I really didn’t do it on purpose!” Dafa babbled in terror.
Without looking ahead, he hurried toward the door, clipped its edge, then bolted downstairs.
Meanwhile, on the ground floor, Ivan heard the hysterical screaming from upstairs and immediately ran toward the staircase in a panic. “What happened?! What happened?!”
Dafa came down the stairs, gasping for breath, his face still red all the way to his ears. His shirt, already dirty and stained with coffee, was now even more disheveled.
“Ivan! Which room is yours again?!” Dafa called, his voice trembling.
“Mine’s the black one, Daf!” Ivan answered innocently. “What’s going on? Who was screaming upstairs?”
Dafa smacked his own forehead hard. *The white door! The open door was white!* His mind screamed, mourning his stupidity.
Before Dafa could explain, heavy footsteps came thundering down the stairs.
Anggun descended in casual clothes—an oversized T-shirt and long pants—with her wet hair wrapped in a towel. Her face was terrifyingly fierce, ready to pounce on anyone in her path.
“IVAN!” Anggun roared.
“Uh, Sis Anggun... what’s wrong? Why’s your face so red?” Ivan asked in confusion, still unaware of the danger lurking nearby.
Anggun moved closer, her eyes fixed straight on Dafa. The tall man lowered his head deeply, too afraid to meet her eyes.
But as Anggun studied Dafa’s build—his broad shoulders, tall frame, and familiar-looking jawline in profile—her mind suddenly connected a crucial thread.
The shirt covered in stains and soaked through... The deep, panicked voice... That tall, lanky build...
Anggun’s eyes widened. “Wait... YOU!”
Dafa finally dared to lift his head a little, trying to apologize again. “Auntie... I swear to God, I really didn’t know that was your room. The door was slightly open, and then—”
“SHUT UP, YOU JERK!” Anggun cut him off as she stepped even closer.
Anggun narrowed her eyes sharply. She examined Dafa’s body from head to toe—his broad shoulders, tall frame, wet and dirty clothes, and deep voice that sounded incredibly familiar to her.
Her mind suddenly connected all the dots.
“Wait...” Anggun pointed a trembling finger right in front of Dafa’s nose, barely holding back her rage. “YOUR FACE! YOUR TALL, LANKY BUILD! AND THAT VOICE... YOU’RE THE GUY WHO RAN INTO ME AT THE BUS STOP EARLIER, AREN’T YOU?!”
Dafa’s eyes flew open in shock. He blinked repeatedly, taking in Anggun’s disheveled face, still bright red. “Huh? Auntie... how did you know?”
“HOW DID I KNOW? BECAUSE OF YOU, I FELL INTO A MUDDY OPEN DRAIN?!” Anggun screamed furiously.
Dafa flinched in shock. His mind immediately recalled what had happened at the bus stop an hour earlier—when he’d accidentally bumped into someone and sent her tumbling into the pitch-black bottom of a drain.
“S-so... the girl who fell into that dark drain earlier... was you, Auntie?!” Dafa stammered, panicking out of his mind.
The world suddenly seemed to stop spinning for Anggun Larasati.
The guy who’d knocked her into a foul-smelling drainage ditch, and the guy who’d just caught her naked in her bedroom... turned out to be the same person!
“YOU DAMN KID! I FINALLY FOUND YOU!” Anggun raged, her patience completely gone. Without mercy, she charged forward and grabbed a fistful of Dafa’s hair, just as she’d sworn she would at the bus stop.
“A-AOWW! IT HURTS, IT HURTS, AUNTIE! SORRY, I REALLY DIDN’T DO IT ON PURPOSE!” Dafa screamed, trying to shield his head.
“SIS ANGGUN! LET GO! SIS, HAVE MERCY ON IVAN’S FRIEND!” Panicking, Ivan immediately threw himself between them, trying to separate the two.
