Seeing the tall young guy in front of her go out of his way to dig deep into his pockets just to apologize, Anggun's defenses suddenly wavered. Her irritation melted away, replaced by amusement.
Anggun snorted, then took the bouquet of roses and set it in the corner of the table.
"I forgive you for the open drain," Anggun said firmly, pointing her pen at Dafa's face. "But as for what happened in the bedroom... if even one word reaches Ivan or your friends, I swear that red lipstick from this morning won't just be decorating your face. I'll smear it all the way onto your clothes!"
Dafa smiled in relief, his eyes sparkling as he looked at Anggun. "Got it, Auntie—uh, Sis Anggun! I guarantee the secret's safe and sound!"
"Good. Now get out of my office. I want to clean up and go home," Anggun ordered, trying to hide the faint flush on her cheeks.
"Why are you still here?" Anggun asked sarcastically, folding her arms across her chest as she stared at Dafa, who still hadn't taken a single step out of her office.
Instead, the tall man leaned one shoulder against the doorframe, looking at Anggun with a faint, self-assured smile.
"Sis... to officially wrap up this sincere apology of mine, how about we have dinner together?" Dafa coaxed gently.
Anggun, who was tidying up her bag, immediately turned to him, raising one eyebrow in bewilderment. "I'm supposed to have dinner with you? I can order food right here. I just have to tell the cook downstairs."
"But eating out gives us a different atmosphere, Sis. It's better," Dafa replied casually, his voice already back to its calm, confident tone. "I'll treat you wherever Sis Anggun wants. Even the most expensive place is fine."
Anggun stopped what she was doing. She looked Dafa up and down, weighing the offer. Free food in a comfortable place after a long, exhausting day at work certainly wasn't a bad deal.
"Seriously?" Anggun asked to make sure.
"Yeah, seriously, Sis," Dafa replied firmly.
"All right, then. I'm in," Anggun finally said.
Dafa smiled with satisfaction. "Okay, then let me drive."
The two of them left Anggun's office and headed down the stairs to the café's ground floor.
"I'm heading home now. You all better work properly," Anggun called to her employees downstairs.
"Yes, ma'am. Be careful on the way home!" the café employees replied in unison.
Anggun continued toward the parking area. When they reached her red car, Dafa quickly stepped ahead of her and opened the front passenger door.
Anggun stared at him for a moment, slightly surprised by the sweet gesture from the young guy in front of her, before finally getting in and sitting primly inside the car.
Dafa walked around the hood and got into the driver's seat. Once he shut the door, he didn't start the engine right away. Instead, he turned his body slightly and stared intently at Anggun with an unreadable look.
Feeling intimidated, Anggun suddenly grew flustered. She pulled her bag tightly against her chest and glared at Dafa.
"What now? Why are you staring at me like that? You're making me nervous!" Anggun scolded, narrowing her eyes.
Dafa chuckled softly and waved his hand casually. "Sorry, sorry... I didn't mean anything, Sis. It's just... try looking in the back. I mean... do you like your presents?"
Anggun raised one eyebrow in confusion, then slowly looked toward the back row of her car.
Her eyes instantly flew wide open. The backseat was piled high with several large paper bags from a variety of famous luxury brands—from fashion and handbags to renowned cosmetics collections.
"D-Dafa... what the hell is all this?!" Anggun exclaimed, utterly stunned. She turned back around to face Dafa. "You bought all of this just to apologize to me?!"
Dafa smiled casually, resting one hand on the steering wheel. "Yeah. Ivan said Sis Anggun likes getting gifts. So I figured I'd buy you a bunch while I was at it. Hope you like them."
Anggun stared at Dafa in disbelief, shocked, confused, and touched all at once by the impulsive gesture of the wealthy young guy beside her.
"You're crazy..." Anggun murmured, though the corners of her lips couldn't stop a faint smile from slowly appearing.
"But thank you so much," Anggun continued, this time looking at Dafa with a sincere smile.
That sweet, enchanting smile suddenly left Dafa stunned and nervous out of his mind. He scratched the back of his neck, which wasn't itchy at all, trying to look away so she wouldn't notice his wildly pounding heart.
"These must've cost a fortune. Even the logos are all famous brands. I really like them. You've got quite a bit of money, don't you, Kiddo?" Anggun teased with a soft laugh.
Dafa frowned slightly and looked at Anggun with a pleading expression. "Don't call me Kiddo, Sis... Just call me Dafa."
"Yeah, yeah. Thanks again, Dafa," Anggun said gently.
"You're welcome, Sis..."
"Oh, by the way, what exactly did you buy me?" Anggun asked curiously, her eyes sparkling as she gazed at the pile of paper bags in the back.
"A lot, Sis. Clothes, shoes, a watch, bags... basically, a whole lot of stuff. I even asked Ivan for your shoe size earlier. But if anything doesn't fit, you can exchange it," Dafa explained at length, his confident smile beginning to return.
Anggun nodded slowly and looked toward the back row again. The broad smile plastered across her beautiful face showed no sign of fading, making Dafa even more eager to admire every curve of the woman's profile beside him.
"All right, let's go! I can't wait to eat, then open all this stuff you got me," Anggun exclaimed enthusiastically, lightly patting Dafa's thigh to tell him to start driving.
Dafa jumped in surprise, then chuckled in amusement. He quickly turned the ignition and pressed the gas pedal, sending the red sedan through the city's nighttime streets.
"Okay, got it! Let's roll!"
