“Just lift it,” Jacky repeated, tightening his grip around the dealer’s wrist. The blue glow in his eyes slowly faded, but his voice remained cold and calm.
The VIP room grew so quiet that the dealer’s heartbeat could be heard clearly.
Boss Tyson leaned forward, while the cigar smoke billowing from his mouth seemed to hang motionless in the air. He gave a subtle signal with a nod.
With hands trembling violently, the dealer lifted the silver cup.
Three dice lay on the green felt covering the betting table.
One, two, and two.
The total: five.
“Low,” Jacky said calmly, then released his grip, leaving a dark red mark around the dealer’s wrist. “I win.”
The dealer slumped back into his chair, his face instantly turning deathly pale. He looked at Boss Tyson with an expression pleading for mercy.
He had already used the magnetic control device. He was certain he had pressed the button to change the dice result to low. But how could that pitiful-looking poor young man have known?
Boss Tyson stared at the dice on the table, his expression impossible to read. A one-million-dollar debt had been cleared in almost no time at all.
This was more than a financial loss. It was an insult.
Never before had anyone entered Black Dragon Casino, treated its table as though it belonged to him, and controlled the course of the game.
“You cheated!” Tyson said heavily.
“Cheated?” Jacky let out a short laugh without a trace of amusement. He pointed at his worn jacket and thinning canvas shoes. “Your own dealer shuffled the dice. The table belongs to you, too. I haven’t even touched those dice, Boss Tyson. If anyone cheated here, it was the casino. I only followed my gut.”
“I don’t care about your gut, brat!” Tyson roared, slamming his hand onto the table.
The impact even shook the crystal chandelier hanging from the room’s ceiling. “No one is leaving this room with one million dollars of mine. Break his hands, and take his legs too.”
The four burly guards immediately sprang into action. One of them, holding a sharp machete, leaped forward and swung his weapon straight at Jacky’s shoulder.
Amid the ensuing panic, that mechanical voice rang out clearly in Jacky’s head once more.
【Ding! Physical threat detected against user.】 【Temporary Combat Assistance activated: Using the “Movement Prediction” ability (effective for 10 seconds).】
In an instant, time seemed to slow down.
Faint red lines appeared in Jacky’s vision, showing the exact path of the machete’s swing even before the weapon had a chance to cut through the air.
Although his body was weak and untrained, Jacky moved entirely according to the instinct guided by the system. He merely shifted his body one handspan to the left.
The machete blade missed its target and sank deep into the surface of the betting table.
Before the guard could pull his weapon free, Jacky snatched up a heavy stack of betting chips and hurled it straight at his opponent’s nose. The sound of breaking bone rang out, and blood sprayed across the table’s green felt as the burly man toppled to the floor.
“Get him!” Tyson shouted furiously, pulling a sleek black pistol from inside his suit.
