"I love your touch, babe!"
Leon smiled as he buttoned his shirt. He was truly proud of his ability to seduce women, especially this time, after Crystal had moaned his name repeatedly when they succeeded in forcing Athena out of the room.
His plan to get rid of Athena had worked, hadn't it? It hadn't merely succeeded—it had been downright insane! No one would have suspected Leon would have the audacity to flirt with another woman in front of his wife. And no one could have endured being in Athena's position.
"I don't think that woman will dare bother us anymore, babe," Crystal said as she rose from the desk where she had been lying moments earlier. She walked toward the window, straightening her tight dress to make sure no one had been spying on her and Leon.
"Hmm, we'll see. I doubt a woman like her will give up so easily," Leon replied coolly, causing Crystal to turn back toward him immediately.
"What do you mean? Do you think Athena plans to get back at us?"
Leon nodded as he looked over the wealth transfer documents he always carried. "Yes. The fact that she dared to join this project already makes me suspicious. Hopefully, she won't dare cause any more trouble. If she does, I won't hesitate to make her mother suffer!"
"Wow! My lover is ruthless, isn't he?"
Raising an eyebrow slightly, Leon, who was still legally Athena's husband, leaned back in his large chair. He chuckled softly as he recalled Athena's irritated expression earlier, then smiled again when Crystal suddenly sat on his lap.
"The more ruthless you are, especially toward Athena, the more I adore you!" the woman whispered seductively, prompting Leon's strong hands to boldly roam over her body again.
"I can't wait to see the results of our plans, honey. Then we can stay like this forever without worrying about what anyone else thinks!"
Crystal nodded and leaned in to kiss the man holding her. Deep down, she couldn't wait to taste true victory. She was eager to replace Athena as soon as possible and enjoy everything her former best friend once had.
Her growing jealousy of Athena's unparalleled success drove her to do whatever it took. Crystal didn't care whether her methods were wrong; she had always been determined to outshine Athena, who had always enjoyed the spotlight and good fortune.
"I've thought of the perfect plan to get rid of her permanently without arousing public suspicion, babe. Want to know what it is?" Crystal asked with a sly smile.
"What's your plan? Honestly, I'm still hesitant about eliminating her after we take everything she owns. I'm afraid the public will become suspicious of us, and we'll both end up in jail once everything is exposed."
Crystal shook her head slightly and kissed him again. "That won't happen if the public believes she took her own life, babe. Let's make it seem like she became more stressed after her mother's death. Then leave clues that she wanted to give up. After that, announce her death and act heartbroken in front of everyone for a few days!"
"Wow! My lover is a genius, huh?"
"A genius at destroying Athena! I want her gone from this world forever, babe. That's why you need to speed up your plans to target her mother. You've already started sabotaging everything, haven't you?"
Raising an eyebrow, Leon rifled through the scattered documents on his desk. He searched for one related to Crystal's question, but he couldn't find it, and his brow furrowed in frustration.
"Damn it! That woman stole my document!"
Panting, the woman they had been discussing hid in an unused storage room at the back of the office. Athena glanced around occasionally to make sure she was safe before pulling out her phone.
"Athena?"
"Oh my God! Arthur, you scared me! Did you follow me? Edward? Where is he? Is he..."
"He's meeting with Leon. It seems important, and—"
"And it's related to me!" Athena interrupted, showing him a document she had taken and opening it with her slightly trembling left hand.
"What did Leon do to you this time, Athena? Why are your hands so cold?" Arthur stopped her when he noticed how cold her hand was.
"That's not important, Arthur. What matters is this document! Why does Leon have all my mother's medical records?" Athena said urgently, her voice trembling as Arthur examined the document in front of them.
The two of them meticulously scanned the contents, working in unison to uncover why Leon had kept the records. They took turns watching their surroundings until Arthur found a slip of paper with the name of a drug written in nearly illegible handwriting.
"Do you know what I'm thinking?" Arthur asked, his gaze meaningful.
"Leon is sabotaging my mother's health, just like he did to me?"
Arthur nodded and took photos of all the documents. "I'll look into this drug later. Now tell me how you found these documents and brought them here. Your husband will go berserk when he finds out you took them."
Sighing softly, Athena glanced outside briefly. "I don't care what else he does to me, Arthur. I'm more worried about my mother now. Before the accident, she called me from the hospital. She kept saying Leon's name but didn't tell me anything else."
"Do you think your mother knows about his vile actions?"
"I don't know, but if she does, she must be very uneasy. I can't visit her because I'm still pretending to be unable to speak. I need to act fast. I think it's time for me to accelerate my plans for revenge!"
"How?" Arthur asked, frowning slightly. "Don't tell me you're planning an open confrontation. Athena, listen to me. This isn't the right time. If you do that, Leon will—"
"I'll keep fighting in secret while gathering more evidence, Arthur. Don't worry. I've figured out the best way to handle him. Please keep these documents safe for now because I need to head back to the board meeting. You'll see what I'll do to him!"
