Chapter 8: The Door That Must Not Be Opened

🔒 This chapter is locked · 20 Quills

Liora lives in a city where magic doesn't exist and parallel universes are written off as myths. Ever since she was little, she has dreamed of a young man standing in the heart of a burning city. He always calls her by another name. One night, the young man shows up in Liora's world. His name is Kael. He comes from a parallel universe where magic is part of daily life and history took a different course. Kael hasn't come to rescue Liora, but to bring her a message: "In my world, you're the one who killed the person I loved most." The person Kael speaks of has a face identical to Liora's—another version of herself from that universe. But Kael doesn't kill Liora at once. He wants the truth. Before that death, after all, Liora's counterpart from his world had said she had no choice.
