Guess what reward I got after leaving the warehouse? That's right—the two marketing staff were busy pestering me.
“Hey, Sal… what were you doing with Adrian in the warehouse? Why were you in there so long?” Riko asked, though his eyes weren't looking at me at all.
I immediately pointed my index finger in front of Riko’s face. “Hey, you little punk, I took so long because I was fixing that crappy work of yours! Don’t go assuming I was fooling around with Mr. Stone-Face!”
I glared at Riko for casually accusing me of all kinds of things. If someone from another division had been there, it would’ve caused a whole uproar.
Friska watched our verbal sparring and just shook her head in disbelief. “Okay, you two, just shut up already. You’re always getting mad. Your mouths must be tired if they don’t get to be angry for a day.”
Riko looked at me while laughing. “See? Look at your friend. She always looks like she’s about to blow up.” He pointed at me with his chin, as if I were completely insignificant.
Having a friend like Riko was seriously the worst. I wondered what his mother had been carrying when she was pregnant to give birth to an anomaly like him.
“Hey, Sal, I heard our office is having a huge dating event?” Friska said. She showed me her phone.
Oh, come on. What division was this, anyway? Why did they have no respect for my single status? I took a good look at the contents of Friska’s phone.
“Oh, seriously? Again? Ugh, what’s going to happen to my permanently single life?”
Riko pushed his chair aside and walked toward me with his smug face.
“Adrian’s available, right? Or do you want to be my girlfriend instead? It’d be a pretty good deal, getting hit on by the handsomest guy in the whole office.” Riko combed his hair back.
I wanted to throw up watching him act so confident. I wanted to throw up so badly—I wanted to empty my entire stomach right then and there.
“Relax. I’m going to find a virtual boyfriend so I don’t have to date a womanizing beaver.” After saying that, I walked away from Riko.
Riko? He laughed triumphantly, making fun of me.
The door opened, and Mr. Bayu came in. Hm, looks like a new problem. I immediately put on a serious face and forgot about my annoyance with Riko.
“Good afternoon, everyone?” Mr. Bayu said, looking absurdly happy, as if he were about to announce that my salary was going up.
“I have some good news.”
“Starting next week, the marketing and sales departments will share one room!”
I immediately started coughing, and Friska came over to give me some water. “Relax, you don’t have to get nervous just because you’re going to see your sweetheart,” Friska whispered to me.
I kicked Friska’s leg. “You’re unbelievable,” I cursed.
“So Salma doesn’t have to keep going back and forth, Adrian suggested it. It’ll be convenient, right? You won’t have to go to the warehouse anymore.”
This wasn’t news that my salary was going up or that I was getting promoted. It was a death sentence. Ugh, after this, Riko was definitely going to tease me even more relentlessly.
The sales staff were smelly and—ugh, never mind, I don’t want to explain it. The point is, they smelled like vehicle exhaust.
And now I had to share a room with them. I was always the one spreading gossip about the sales staff, and now I was receiving karma right to my face.
“That’s great! If there’s a single guy on the sales staff, you can set him up with Salma!” Riko said loudly.
Mr. Bayu looked at me with a grin. “Pretty nice, huh, Sal? You can enjoy the eye candy. Actually, this plan’s been in the works for a while. Since Adrian complained, a few of the executives running this office and I decided to put everyone in one room. We’ll just add partitions later.”
I didn’t have the energy to respond anymore. Whatever. First there was that ridiculous office dating event, and now the marketing staff and sales staff were going to share a room.
Guess what I’m going to do when I get home from work? Sleep. I’m exhausted by all of this.
Mr. Bayu stared at me for a long time. I actually got chills. “So, what do you think, Sal? You’re the only one here who hasn’t given me an answer.”
“I’m fine with it, as long as it’s what’s best for Jaya Perkasa Group.”
I wasn’t sincere when I answered. I wouldn’t be able to play bean bag anymore, lounge around whenever I wanted, or do a lot of other things.
This was all Adrian’s fault. Oh no. From now on, I was going to see Mr. Stone-Face every day.
I was doomed!
