Because I kept thinking about the past, I didn't even realize the sun had risen—it was already morning. After waking up last night, I couldn't fall asleep again, so I felt awful: exhausted and completely unmotivated. Today was supposed to be the day we went to the amusement park. Reluctantly, I forced myself to get ready.
Luckily, I'd prepared everything yesterday, so today I only had to bring my bag, which already had everything inside. At exactly seven, I went to school with Mr. Raka driving me. After that, I waited for them because we'd agreed to meet at seven thirty the day before. But they never showed up. None of my other classmates were there either. I didn't get out of the car because it looked scorching hot outside, so I chose to enjoy the cool air-conditioning inside.
When the clock struck eight, we should have already been at the amusement park. I decided to text them, telling them that I'd been at school for a while and asking where they were.
Yuna: Sorry, we forgot to tell you. It turns out they wanted us to meet at the bus stop. Yuna: The one you go to every day.
I texted back, asking whether I should go there and if they were still waiting for me.
Yuna: Just come over. We're waiting for you.
I immediately told Mr. Raka to drive me to the bus stop. It didn't take us long to get there by car, maybe five minutes.
But I couldn't find them there either. I questioned them about it again.
There was no answer.
After I'd waited for an hour, the sky darkened, and it started raining—from a drizzle that gradually turned into a downpour. Only then did Yuna reply in the chat.
Yuna: Sorry you had to leave first. Yuna: The others already left, and the class president bought tickets for us. He couldn't get in if we hadn't arrived.
So this had been their plan all along: getting revenge by messing with me. They must have thought I'd walked from the bus stop to school, then back to the bus stop again. And now it was raining, with strong winds blowing too. If I'd really waited at the bus stop, the wind would definitely have blown the rain all over me and soaked me through. I just laughed to myself.
They'd be so disappointed if they knew the truth. I was perfectly comfortable inside my car. In fact, I wanted to know what they were dealing with over there. The other students must have been disappointed too. They'd gone all the way to the amusement park, only for it to start raining. Well, it was a good thing I hadn't gone. I was feeling sleepy now because I hadn't gotten enough sleep last night. I asked Mr. Raka to take me home.
When I got home, I asked Auntie Nur to cook lunch because it was already noon, and I'd forgotten to eat breakfast that morning. While I ate, I opened my social media. I had my real account and a fake one for stalking them, since sometimes I couldn't see their posts because they'd hidden their accounts from me. I opened my fake account and started checking their accounts one by one. Most of the posts were about how it had suddenly rained today. Though, I guess it wasn't exactly sudden. The weather had been changing so quickly lately, which was why I'd been confused when they planned to go out today.
After eating, I went upstairs to my room. The rain made everything feel peaceful and cozy. I fell asleep quickly because I was so tired. The rain continued for quite a while. It finally stopped around five in the afternoon, just as I woke up. I checked their accounts again to see what new updates I'd missed.
