Max came home from the office earlier than usual. The man had lost all enthusiasm because of the arrival of a woman he didn't want to see. His already-irritated heart grew even more irritated.
Bram was no less annoyed with his mother. Although Amber had given birth to him, she wasn't the one who raised him. That's why Max had never respected his mother. The man held a deep grudge against her for leaving him just as he was entering his teenage years.
"That old woman is really testing my patience. She'll never be satisfied. Does she think she'll succeed? Tch, what a shameless woman!"
Max grumbled the entire way out of the towering building. No one dared to reprimand him because the employees knew Max didn't want to be disturbed.
"Heh, that woman is unbelievable. She abandoned me with Dad, then shamelessly came back as if nothing had happened," he ranted. "And Dad is an idiot for still accepting her.
Before he knew it, Max was in the parking lot. Unwilling to waste any time, Max got into his car and drove off at a fairly high speed. He couldn't wait to get home and chew out his mother.
There was no traffic because Max took a shortcut, and the man eventually arrived home.
As soon as Max entered, Amber was already waiting for him in the living room. "Max, have you met with—"
"Never interfere in my affairs! You should know your place in this house, Mom. Even though I'm your son, you weren't the one who raised me. I hate it when people meddle too much. Including you, Mom." Max glared at Amber, who fell silent under his words. The woman hadn't even finished speaking, but Max had already cut her off.
"Max, I only want what's best for you," Amber said, still refusing to give up.
Max held back his irritation. He wanted nothing more than to shut her up, if only she weren't his mother. "Don't ever tell me what's best for me, Mom. You left us for another man," Max replied quietly. "And now you're talking about respectable women? Isn't that a little funny coming from a woman who was heartless enough to abandon the man who had tried so hard for her?"
Not wanting to hear any reply from Amber, Max left her behind and went upstairs to his room.
Naturally, Amber was furious at being abandoned by her son just like that. "What an ungrateful son! He always brings up the past. I'm here for them now. What more do they want? Tch!" Amber clicked her tongue sarcastically as she watched Max disappear upstairs. The woman didn't feel guilty at all about what she had done in the past.
Before she could continue ranting, Bram's voice came from behind her. "If you don't want Max to hate you, then stop doing stupid things like that, Amber! Take a good look at yourself first if you want to find a woman for Max. Make sure she doesn't turn out just like you!"
Amber fell completely silent. Her body stiffened at her husband's words. Amber had thought Bram wouldn't hear what she said, but she had been terribly wrong.
Once again, Amber was left behind, unable to retort to either man's words. She couldn't understand how Max and Bram could team up to humiliate her.
The woman left the living room and went to the guest room. Ever since returning to the luxurious house, Amber had no longer shared a room with Bram. The woman was treated like an outcast in the home where happiness had once lived. Even so, Amber refused to admit that she was truly at fault.
"I'll bring both of you to your knees again, just like before."
