Elys moved closer, continuing to pressure Jerome until the thick-haired man was repeatedly on the verge of losing his breath.
As if the Grim Reaper were ready to take his life, Jerome resigned himself to his fate. Right in front of his face, Elys was ready to slash that handsome face with a dagger. The man could even imagine meeting Veora after his death.
Slap! With his heartbeat no longer steady, Jerome slowly opened his eyes. “Why didn’t you kill me?”
“Darling, how stupid would I be to take your life before you find that handsome sibling of yours for me.”
Did she really desire King that much? “Do you mean King?” Jerome asked, staring into Elys’s eyes.
“Yes. You just mentioned the name of the man I’ve been searching for all this time. Jerome, tell me where he is now.” Elys began playing the tip of her dagger against the man’s cheek.
“Then why did you have to hurt me, Elys? If my sibling is the one you’re looking for, I’d be more than happy to meet him.”
Instead of answering, Elys burst out laughing. She released her grip on Jerome. The man coughed as though he had found life again.
The girl with thick, black, wavy hair moved closer once more. She pulled something from beneath her rose-red dress. It was a photograph, and on the back was a sentence that made Jerome start slightly. Elys grinned, looking satisfied with the expression on King’s sibling’s face.
“So you’re the one who murdered both my parents, Elys?!” Jerome’s anger could no longer be contained.
“Elys!”
“Jerome D’Angel. You seem like the kind of man who’ll never forget what happened ten years ago, huh? Relax. I wasn’t the one who killed them.”
“What the hell are you talking about, you wicked woman?!”
