“Romi is impotent, Mrs. Rika,” Diandra finally revealed. “That’s why there was no bloodstain on our wedding night.”
“What did you say?” Mrs. Rika asked again, as if she couldn’t believe it.
“Romi couldn’t get it up,” Diandra continued, emphasizing every word.
The room suddenly fell silent. Mrs. Rika, who had been standing there with anger written all over her face, abruptly went quiet. Her expression changed, as if she couldn’t believe what she had just heard.
“There’s no way Romi is impotent. I know exactly what Romi is like...” Mrs. Rika paused for a moment, then glared sharply at Diandra. “This has to be one of your schemes, doesn’t it?”
Diandra lowered her head. Her hands clenched together tightly.
“I never intended to expose my own husband’s shame. But since you’ve both kept accusing me, I’m telling you the truth,” Diandra explained honestly.
Mrs. Rika stared intently at Diandra, then quickly shook her head. No matter who was telling the truth, she would still defend Romi and continue cornering Diandra, who was, after all, an outsider.
“Don’t make things up, Diandra. You’re just looking for an excuse because you’ve been caught, aren’t you?” Mrs. Rika said, still unconvinced.
“I’m not making anything up, Mrs. Rika. I’m telling you the facts,” Diandra replied politely.
“My son could never be like that...” Mrs. Rika’s gaze shifted toward Diandra. “Could this just be an alibi to cover up your own terrible shame? You’re making Romi the scapegoat to hide all your mistakes.”
Diandra slowly shook her head, trying to convince Mrs. Rika with the truth.
“No, Mrs. Rika. I’m his wife, and I know my husband’s condition...” Tears began to well up in Diandra’s eyes. “I never wanted to humiliate my own husband, but you and Romi have been pressuring me this whole time.”
Before Mrs. Rika could answer, the door was thrown open. Romi stood in the doorway, glaring at Diandra furiously.
“That’s enough, Diandra...” His eyes turned toward his mother. “Don’t ever believe this woman, Mom. She’s a liar.”
“I don’t believe her either...” Mrs. Rika glanced at Diandra with a sneer.
Diandra flinched. She stared at her husband, her heart pounding.
“Honey...”
Romi stepped forward until he stood directly in front of Diandra. His gaze was sharp and intimidating.
“Don’t make things up to cover your own filth. Before you married me, some other man must have already had you. That’s why there was no bloodstain on our wedding night,” Romi accused her without a shred of proof.
Diandra stared at her husband in disbelief. How could he say something like that?
“What did you say, Honey?”
Romi gave a mocking laugh.
“Not only are you deaf, you’re stupid too. I regret marrying a cheap woman like you!” Romi shouted thunderously.
His husband’s words struck Diandra like lightning out of a clear blue sky. She couldn’t believe that the man who was supposed to protect her would deliberately destroy her emotionally.
“How could you do this to me, Honey?”
Romi folded his arms over his chest and looked away.
“I can be cruel to a cheap woman like you,” Romi shot back viciously.
Diandra took several steps forward until she stood directly in front of Romi.
“Watch what you say, Honey. I’m not the kind of woman you think I am,” Diandra said, unable to accept his accusations.
“Say whatever you want. But the truth is, I can’t accept your condition,” Romi said emphatically. “I don’t want a wife who brings shame to my family.”
Diandra fell silent for a moment.
“What do you mean, Honey?”
“You said you were still a virgin, but on our wedding night...” Romi stopped, his jaw tightening. “I know what I felt.”
Diandra drew a deep breath and let it out slowly. She had no idea what else she could do to make Romi admit his own shortcomings.
“I know my own condition too, Honey. I never did anything with anyone before I married you,” Diandra explained honestly.
“Don’t lie!”
“I’m not lying!”
“You keep repeating the same thing!”
“Because it’s the truth...” Diandra’s voice began to tremble. Tears started falling, but this time she made no attempt to hide them.
“I married you without bringing anyone else into my life. I came to you as a woman who had kept herself pure. Why is it so hard for you to believe me? I’m still a virgin, Honey.”
Romi laughed bitterly.
“Because the truth doesn’t match what I imagined, Diandra! You weren’t a virgin when I married you,” Romi insisted, clinging to his position.
Diandra didn’t know what else she could say to make her husband believe the truth.
“Then ask yourself, Honey. Stop blaming me for what happened,” Diandra said helplessly.
“I’m your husband!”
“And I’m your wife!” Diandra shot back. “Shouldn’t you be protecting me instead of destroying my dignity?”
Romi was silent for a moment. But his pride hardened him again.
“I can’t live with a woman I don’t even trust,” Romi revealed honestly.
Diandra looked at Romi through tear-filled eyes.
“If you really don’t trust me anymore, what else can I do?” Diandra replied, looking defeated.
“Just admit what you were like before you married me, Diandra.”
“I’ve told you again and again, Honey...” Diandra paused for a moment. “There’s nothing for me to admit.”
“So you’re choosing to hold on to your lies?”
“It’s not a lie, Honey. I’m standing by the truth.”
Romi roughly rubbed his face, then walked away without another word. Diandra soon left as well, thoroughly fed up with the argument.
A marriage that should have been a happy occasion had instead ended like this. Diandra had no idea what else she could do to make her husband believe her.
“What else can I say to make Romi believe me?” Diandra muttered in frustration.
A few days later.
The argument continued for several days. Every time they spoke, it always ended the same way. Romi demanded a confession, while Diandra stubbornly insisted that she had still been a virgin when she married him.
Then, one afternoon, another argument erupted. Their daily bickering and quarrels never stopped.
“I’m tired, Diandra!” Romi said softly.
“I’m tired too, Honey!” Diandra shot back.
“Then let’s just end this!” Romi said casually.
Diandra suddenly fell silent. She had no idea what to do.
“What, Honey?”
Romi stared at her, his chest heaving.
“Let’s get a divorce...”
