I was so happy that I would be introduced to so many people as the biological daughter of my family. They really wanted to acknowledge me. After that, everyone went to sleep. The next day, I suddenly remembered that I didn't have any decent clothes to wear to the event that afternoon.
It looked like I needed to go shopping for clothes and other things to fill my closet and room. I had the card Jevan gave me, after all, and I could use it to buy anything I wanted.
I decided to let them know I was going out for a while.
“Would it be all right if I went out now to buy something to wear later?”
Dad slapped his forehead. “Oh, I almost forgot. Of course you can go. Our family has a private tailor you can ask to come here or visit.”
“Do you want me to call him to the house?” Jevan asked.
“I think I’d rather go straight to his studio since I want to buy some other things too.”
“I’ll take you there.”
I was surprised because it was Jega who said that. “I’m coming too,” Jevan said.
When both of my brothers said they wanted to come with me, Anisa immediately spoke up as well. “I want to come too!”
“All right... all right... I’ll go along with whatever you want.”
After that, I said goodbye to my parents and went to the car. “Amora, choose whichever car you want.”
I looked at the row of cars in the garage, then my eyes landed on a red one at the end. I pointed at it. “I’ll take that one.”
“Okay, let’s go.”
Jevan took the keys to the car and unlocked it. We all got in, and Jevan drove. I sat in the passenger seat, next to Jevan. I gazed out through the car window. The road outside was one I had never been down before. Everything looked completely unfamiliar because I had never been here.
As expected, even the studio of a tailor for a wealthy family was different. The Jaya family had never gone to a tailor. Whenever there was an event, they only wore cheap clothes they bought at the market. On top of that, they had never taken me anywhere, so I had never gotten clothes like those. I didn't even own a single dress. That's why I felt pretty jealous of Anisa, who lived a comfortable, happy life with my family while I suffered with hers. I decided not to dwell too much on the past and to look ahead.
If I stayed trapped in the past, how could I ever get back on my feet? I had already accepted that time couldn't be turned back, so all I could do was make the most of the time I had going forward. I was so lost in thought that I didn't even realize we had arrived at our destination.
I only snapped back to reality when Jevan placed a hand on my shoulder. “Hey, Amora, we’re here. Were you just daydreaming?”
“Sorry, I was enjoying the view so much that I started daydreaming.”
“It’s okay. Come on, get out of the car. Anisa and Jega are already waiting.”
I looked toward the back seat, and sure enough, Anisa and Jega were already gone. I quickly unfastened my seat belt and got out so I wouldn't keep them waiting any longer. I walked toward Anisa and Jega, with Jevan behind me after locking the car once I got out.
We entered the building together. As soon as we stepped inside, we were greeted by rows of beautiful dresses displayed on mannequins, with even more hanging nearby. There were so many. It was the first time I had ever seen this many dresses. Every one of them was beautiful and sparkling. There were so many different styles.
