“Ow!” Davina yelped when a body slammed into her and sent her stumbling against the side of the door. Luckily, her body caught her weight, so she didn’t fall and embarrass herself even more while several students in different uniforms watched her, barely holding back their laughter.
Davina glared at the students and grumbled. ‘Damn it, who makes someone almost fall like that? Now I’m embarrassed! Where am I supposed to put this pretty face of mine?’ Davina grimaced inwardly, trying to hold back her rising anger.
Meanwhile, Devan, the guy who had crashed into her, simply stood there, completely indifferent. Davina turned toward him and pointed angrily.
“Are you going to apologize or not?” Davina snapped, glaring at him.
Devan shot her a brief look. “What for?” he asked curtly. The guy gently nudged Davina aside so he could move past her. Without a trace of guilt, Devan walked right in, a faint smile touching his lips as he watched Davina struggle to contain her annoyance.
Davina clenched her fist and punched the boy’s broad back in sheer frustration.
“Davina Larasati!” the principal called.
Hearing her name, Davina let out a harsh sigh. She walked in with a sour expression and glanced at the principal, who was still trying not to laugh at what had just happened.
“Go ahead and laugh, Mr. Principal. You don’t have to pretend you’re holding it in!” Davina snapped, making the principal burst into laughter.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, Davina. I can’t hold it in anymore. Honestly, that was hilarious!” the principal said, covering his mouth when he saw the horror on Davina’s face.
“Just wait until I tell Aunt Saras!” Davina threatened, making the principal panic.
“Don’t do that, my dear Davina. Then your handsome uncle will have to sleep on the couch!” replied the principal, whose name was Mr. Santoso. He was Davina’s uncle.
“Good!” Davina huffed sulkily.
“Ahem!” Devan cleared his throat, interrupting the show unfolding in front of him.
Mr. Santoso, realizing he had become the center of attention, just grinned. “Sorry, there was a commercial break!” he said with a snicker.
Mr. Santoso’s expression turned serious as he faced the students from smaneke and the four twelfth-grade class presidents.
“Listen up, twelfth-grade class presidents. Starting today and continuing for the next few months, your classes will have some new classmates until their school finishes its repairs. I hope you can welcome them and work together with them while they study here. We schools have to support one another for the sake of education in this city!” Mr. Santoso announced.
“Yes, sir!” the four class presidents replied.
“The science-track students can go with Rangga, the language-track students with Mila, the culinary-arts students with Ruri, and the social-studies students can go with my most beautiful niece, Davina!” Mr. Santoso instructed, directing the twelfth-graders from smaneke to follow their respective class presidents.
“Yes, sir!”
Davina ushered the students from smaneke into her classroom. Several empty seats had already been prepared, so all they had to do was take their places.
“Woo-hoo, who’s that, Class Prez?” Amira asked, her face lighting up at the sight of several handsome students from smaneke.
Davina shot Amira a fierce look, warning her to keep quiet.
“Jeez, what’s wrong with asking? One of them could be my soulmate for this life and the next!” Amira retorted with a pout.
“Are you planning to die, Mira? Why are you talking about the next life? Are you trying to leave me and Mom behind, Mir? That’s so mean!” Amina joked, staring at her twin with teary eyes.
“Good grief, what is wrong with you?” Amira slapped her forehead at her twin’s joke.
“Don’t, my dear Amira. Don’t leave me!” Amina sang dramatically, putting on a pitiful expression.
“Amina!” Davina shouted, raising a finger to her lips to tell the twins to stop making a scene.
“Sorry, Class Prez. We were just kidding!” Amina said with a goofy grin.
Davina exhaled softly. “All right, everyone, I’m not going to waste time with formalities. We have some students from that school that collapsed, and I hope you can work together with them while they study here.” Davina shifted her gaze to the twenty students from smaneke. “Take your seats and introduce yourselves. I’m sleepy, so I’m going to bed!” Davina ordered before walking over to her desk.
All the students stared blankly at Davina’s reaction. She seemed completely casual about everything—and during the introductions, she had told them to introduce themselves. What a strange class president!
“Vin, Davina!” Amina and Amira approached her and shook Davina’s petite body in unison as she laid her head on the desk.
“Hmm!” Davina answered without lifting her head.
“Wake up, Vin. Don’t go to sleep yet! Are they really going to be in the same class as us?” Amira asked, glancing at the smaneke students, who had already taken their seats.
“If they weren’t here, where else would they go? The roof?” Davina replied.
“No, seriously, Davina. Our class is going to be packed. Why didn’t they put them in different classes? There are tons of empty buildings over there!” Amira protested.
“Ask Uncle Santoso,” Davina replied indifferently.
“What does Uncle Santoso have to do with it, Vin?” Amina asked, her slowness kicking in again.
“Uncle Santoso is the principal here, Amina!” Amira replied in exasperation.
“Oh, right, I forgot! Uncle Santoso is amazing—he got them into this school, and they’re all so cute!” Amina whispered, making Amira smack her forehead. Even Amira couldn’t deny that the boys from smaneke were incredibly handsome and charming. But as a girl, Amira had to act aloof if she wanted to look desirable in front of them.
“You two are so noisy. You might as well sleep here with me instead of yapping so much!” Davina said, covering her ears because the twins were disturbing her.
The twins merely giggled and exchanged meaningful glances while eyeing the handsome boys.
