The Revenge Bride
Soft morning sunlight streamed into the room.
When Alexander opened his eyes, the first person he saw was Elena.
But the very next moment, his gaze fell to the floor.
Elena was lying there unconscious.
Alexander: Elena!
He got out of bed in a panic and sat down beside her.
Alexander: Elena... wake up.
Elena didn't respond.
Alexander picked up the water nearby and splashed it over her face.
A little while later, Elena slowly opened her eyes.
Alexander: Are you all right? What happened?
Elena looked at him and stayed silent for a few moments.
Then she remembered the letter from last night.
She immediately sat up.
Alexander: How did you faint?
Elena: I don't know.
Alexander: Did you feel dizzy?
Elena shook her head.
Elena: Maybe... I was just really tired. So much happened yesterday. That must be why.
Alexander studied her carefully.
Alexander: Why didn't you tell me?
Elena: I didn't know I was going to faint myself.
Alexander took her hand.
Alexander: Are you feeling better now?
Elena: Yes.
Elena deliberately kept the letter from him.
She didn't want to ask Alexander anything yet.
First, she needed to find out the truth for herself.
A little while later, the two of them had tea and breakfast together.
Alexander kept glancing at Elena.
Alexander: You're very quiet today.
Elena: I'm just a little tired.
Alexander: You didn't sleep well last night?
Elena: No.
Alexander smiled.
Alexander: Get some rest today.
Elena nodded with a faint smile.
Just then, the doctor arrived.
He had come for Alexander's regular checkup.
He checked Alexander's medication, took his blood pressure, and talked with him for a while.
After finishing the examination, the doctor smiled.
Doctor: Dear, you're doing much better than before.
Happiness spread across Alexander's face.
Alexander: Really?
Doctor: Yes. The medication is working well. Just make sure you keep taking it on time.
Sir Thomas was standing nearby as well.
The moment he heard the doctor's words, he happily patted Alexander on the head.
Sir Thomas: May God keep your life happy forever.
Alexander smiled.
Alexander: It's all thanks to your prayers, Grandpa.
Sir Thomas suddenly seemed to remember something.
Sir Thomas: Oh, right... I just remembered I have something important to do in the study.
He left.
Elena thought she'd make him some coffee.
She made the coffee and headed toward the study.
But she stopped the moment she opened the door slightly.
Her stepmother was sitting inside.
And across from her...
Jason.
The two of them were talking.
Elena quietly stood outside the door.
Stepmother: Everything's fine now.
Jason: Yeah. There's no need to worry anymore.
Stepmother: Just make sure Elena doesn't find out.
Elena's heart began pounding.
She quietly closed the door and returned to her room with the coffee.
Now, her mind was filled with questions.
What were the two of them hiding?
A little while later, she saw Jason in the hallway.
He was carrying a black suitcase.
Elena was startled the moment she saw it.
Elena: That's the same suitcase...
She had seen that very suitcase the night before.
The one containing the money and the letter.
Jason was hurrying outside with it.
Elena watched him from a short distance away.
Now she didn't just suspect it...
She was beginning to believe that something huge was being hidden.
Meanwhile, Jason had begun enjoying the money he had received from Alexander.
He started going to clubs.
He went out with one new girl after another.
He bought expensive clothes.
He spent money without a second thought.
He felt like his life had completely changed.
But he had no idea that all his secrets were slowly being exposed to Elena.
One day, Elena was heading outside.
Just then, Yuki approached her.
Yuki was the daughter of Sir Thomas's half-brother.
These days, she was dating Jason.
Yuki: Elena!
Elena: Yeah?
Yuki: Want me to show you something?
Elena: What?
Yuki held out her hand.
A beautiful diamond ring glittered on her finger.
The moment Elena saw the ring, her expression changed.
She recognized it.
It was the same ring Jason had once had made for her.
Yuki said happily—
Yuki: Jason gave it to me.
Elena said nothing.
Her eyes filled with tears.
Yuki: How do you like it?
Elena forced a smile and said—
Elena: It's nice.
Yuki: I absolutely love it.
Then Yuki laughed and said—
Yuki: I'm going. Jason's waiting for me.
Elena: Okay.
Yuki: Bye.
Elena: Bye.
Yuki walked away.
Elena continued staring after her.
Then she spotted Jason standing a short distance away.
He had a key in his hand.
He got into Alexander's car and drove away.
Elena's anger soared.
She went straight to Wilson Villa.
Alexander was sitting in his room.
Elena angrily walked up and stood in front of him.
Alexander: What happened?
Elena: I want to ask you something about Jason.
Alexander looked at her.
Alexander: Go ahead.
Elena: You knew Jason before, didn't you?
Alexander: Yes.
Elena: What is he like?
Alexander was silent for a few moments.
Then he said—
Alexander: Do you want the truth? I never liked him.
Elena: Why?
Alexander: Because he was always interested in my money.
Elena's eyes widened.
Alexander: He came to me several times. He asked about my business and my property. Even when my health was at its worst, he kept hanging around me.
Elena listened in silence.
Then she finally asked the question that had been on her mind since last night.
Elena: Alexander...
Alexander: Yes?
Elena: Did you... ever give someone money because of me?
Alexander's face suddenly became calm.
He stared at her for a few moments.
Then he said—
Alexander: Yes.
The ground seemed to drop out from under Elena's feet.
Elena: Why?
Alexander took a deep breath.
Alexander: So I could marry you.
Tears filled Elena's eyes.
Elena: How much?
Alexander answered softly—
Alexander: One hundred million.
Elena stared at him for a few moments.
Her head began to spin.
That same one hundred million...
That same suitcase...
That same letter...
Everything was finally starting to connect.
But one question still remained in her mind.
Who had Alexander given that one hundred million to?
And the biggest question of all...
What were Jason and her stepmother doing in this entire scheme?
Elena slowly wiped away her tears.
There was no pain in her eyes now...
Only anger.
She said to herself—
“Jason... you betrayed me. I won't let you live in peace anymore.”
But she didn't yet know that the real game had only just begun.
The End.
