Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Between Curse and Promise

Prince Adrian Veyr was long admired as the flawless heir: icy, mighty, untouchable. Then an old curse struck, robbing him of any capacity for intimacy. Word traveled fast. Noble families withdrew their daughters, rival kingdoms questioned the crown's future, and commoners murmured that he was paying for his forefathers' crimes. What Adrian hid was worse: no spell could undo it. Legend said only one woman could end the curse. She is Elara Vale, an unassuming girl newly arrived at court, unaware that her bloodline descends from the house that once toppled Adrian's kingdom. Once he learns who she is, Adrian wants her gone. Yet each time she comes close, the curse that never budged begins to splinter. Meanwhile, Elara dreams of a life she never lived: a burning kingdom, a prince on his knees before her, and a man swearing, "If you're ever born again, I'll find you." Is she the cure for his curse, or the very reason it exists? Perhaps it was never a punishment for Adrian at all, but a wall built to keep the two of them apart.
