The screen slowly faded to black.
The next morning…
The morning sunlight streamed through the gap in the window, illuminating the still-quiet room.
Neo was still sleeping soundly on the bed.
Beside him, Diana stood watching the young man.
“Neo…”
There was no answer.
Diana tried calling him again.
“Neo?”
Neo still didn’t move.
Diana let out a small sigh.
She then leaned closer to make sure Neo was really still asleep.
“Hmm… He’s sleeping really soundly.”
A little while later, Neo slowly opened his eyes.
“…Huh?”
His vision was still blurry.
But as his eyes began to focus, he immediately saw Diana’s face right in front of him.
“AAAH!!”
Neo was startled and shot up from the bed.
Diana stepped back slightly, laughing.
“Hehehe… You were sleeping pretty soundly too, huh?”
Neo stared at her in confusion.
“W-Why are you here?!”
“Because you’re so hard to wake up.”
Diana crossed her arms.
“I called you several times already.”
Neo scratched his head.
“Ah… Sorry.”
He then yawned and began straightening his clothes.
After that, Neo looked at Diana.
“Where are we going, anyway?”
Diana smiled.
“You said you wanted to find the Demon King, right?”
Neo fell silent for a moment.
“Yeah.”
“Then we have to start by becoming adventurers.”
Neo raised an eyebrow.
“Adventurers?”
Diana nodded.
“Yeah. Once we’re registered with the Adventurer’s Guild, we can take quests and get permission to travel to other villages.”
Neo began to understand what Diana meant.
“So we can look for information about the Demon King too?”
“Exactly.”
Diana smiled.
“As adventurers, we can meet all kinds of people and travel to various places. We might even find someone who knows something about the Demon King.”
Neo slowly clenched his fist.
Maybe this was the first step toward finding answers about himself.
Diana then walked toward the door.
“So come on. Hurry up. We don’t want to be late.”
Neo gave a small smile.
“All right!”
He quickly stood up and followed Diana out of the room.
A new day had begun.
And for Neo…
The journey to find answers about himself was finally about to begin.
Before long, the two of them arrived in front of a large building that stood out from the other buildings in the village.
Above the entrance was a sign that read:
ADVENTURER'S GUILD.
Diana stopped in front of the door and pointed at the building.
“This is our village’s Adventurer’s Guild. Come on, let’s go inside.”
Neo nodded.
“Yeah.”
Diana then opened the door.
As the guild door opened, the lively noise from inside immediately reached them.
In the fairly spacious room, many adventurers could be seen engaged in various activities. Some were taking quests, others were talking with fellow adventurers, while still others were busy checking their weapons and equipment.
Neo looked around, slightly surprised.
“Wow… It’s pretty lively.”
Diana gave a small smile.
“It’s always this busy. A lot of adventurers come here to take quests.”
Neo nodded slowly.
They then walked toward the registration desk.
A woman in charge of looking after the guild stood behind it. Her name was Rena.
Diana stood in front of her.
“We’d like to register as adventurers.”
Rena looked back and forth between Diana and Neo.
“Of course. But before that, we’ll need to check your power first.”
Diana nodded.
“All right.”
