In a realm split into the Nine Provinces, Kairen is nobody special: quiet, modest, easily forgotten. Once he puts on the Mask, he turns into Sama, an unpredictable fighter who battles like a chess master and whom the whole kingdom calls a demon. The Mask isn't a curse; it's a piece of his soul. But each time he wears it, something is taken. Fear goes first, then joy, then love, and finally the memories those feelings were tied to. Kairen isn't out to save the world. He only wants to know one thing: does the Mask show who he truly is, or pull him further from himself?
