“Mr. Ronald, does the Arthur family always run away from its responsibilities?” Mr. Bayu refused to back down so easily. His daughter’s virginity had been taken, and only the Arthur family was worthy of marrying her.
“If someone else is in debt, why should I be the one to pay it? Mr. Wijaya, you wouldn’t want this video to be spread around, would you?”
Already irritated, Antares immediately showed him the draft video he was about to upload. Naturally, the sight made Mr. Bayu clench his fists and grind his teeth.
“You—you dare threaten me?” Mr. Bayu snarled.
“If you like pressuring other people, why should I be afraid?” Antares challenged.
“Besides the video, I also have an audio recording of it! What if I upload that too?”
“You—” Alicia pointed at him rudely. She never expected that Antares, the careless guy who had always chased after her back in high school, would dare challenge her so openly.
“Alicia, if one man isn’t enough for you, I can pay for a male model!” Antares said with a mocking grin.
“Antares, didn’t you promise to marry me?” Alicia asked pitifully.
“Marry you? If you were the only woman in the world, I’d rather never get married at all. Who knows how many men you’ve slept with over the past two years!”
Antares’s words struck her like an arrow through the chest. Before meeting Wiliam, she had several lovers. Of them all, only Wiliam made her feel comfortable.
“How many lovers I have is none of your business! The thing you need to deal with is our marriage!” Alicia shouted.
Antares’s expression grew even darker. He clenched his teeth and squeezed the phone in his hand tightly. He nearly shared the draft video he was using to threaten her on social media.
“You’re just the daughter of a small-time businessman, not the president’s daughter. Even if you were the president’s daughter, I still wouldn’t want to marry you!” Antares said firmly.
“Y-you dare reject me?” Alicia’s face reddened, and her gaze grew as sharp as a knife ready to stab at any moment.
She gave a mocking smile and sat beside her father while eating a still-warm pastry. “I’m not some harbor where you can dock after sailing across the sea, Alicia Wijaya!”
“You should know your place, Antares!” Alicia’s anger exploded. The pain in her groin no longer seemed to hold her back. “If you had just done what I wanted, I wouldn’t have looked for another man! We’re engaged and getting married, but you always refused my advances!”
“I don’t want to hear it! You have to take responsibility and compensate me with five billion!”
“Five billion? Why should I spend five billion on something worthless? Even a plantation doesn’t cost that much!”
As if she had just realized something, Alicia turned to look at him. Those words could never have come from a slacker and spendthrift like Antares. That one unintentional sentence was enough to expose everything.
“Since when does a spendthrift like you care about money? Haven’t you spent hundreds of millions without batting an eye all this time?” Alicia asked.
Antares rolled his eyes lazily. “The hundreds of millions I spent had nothing to do with you! My advice is that you’d better be careful. If you get pregnant, the Wijaya family will be the ones disgraced!”
Ronald merely smiled when he heard that. His youngest son was famous for being a slacker and a spendthrift, but when it came to arguing, no one could beat him. It wasn’t just Alicia—even the company’s board of directors had been dragged into arguments with him.
“Mr. Bayu, the evidence is right in front of you! If you don’t want the Wijaya family’s reputation ruined, don’t cause trouble! Haven’t you already set Alicia’s wedding date? Why come here and force Antares to take responsibility?”
Mr. Bayu didn’t respond. He merely glanced at his daughter with an annoyed expression. Not only had they been humiliated, but the Wijaya family had also lost a business partner.
“This is all because of your stupidity, Alicia!” he bellowed.
