Rama was still staring at his phone screen.
The number was no longer reachable.
He tried calling back, but an automated voice immediately stated that the number couldn't receive calls.
Rama clenched his fist.
"Who was that?" Raya asked.
Rama looked up.
He'd briefly wanted to tell her the truth, but seeing Raya's condition, he changed his mind.
"It's nothing."
Raya frowned.
"But your face..."
"I just got a call from the wrong person."
Raya continued staring at him suspiciously.
But before she could ask again, the doctor came in to check on her.
"Mr. Rama, you should step outside for now. The patient needs plenty of rest."
Rama nodded.
He headed for the door, but before leaving, his eyes turned toward Raya again.
She was still watching him.
As if Rama were the only person she could trust in that unfamiliar place.
"Mr. Rama..."
Rama stopped.
"Yes?"
"Don't leave me alone."
That simple sentence brought Rama to a halt.
He stared at Raya for several seconds.
Then he nodded.
"I won't go far."
Rama left the ICU.
As soon as the door closed, his expression turned serious.
He immediately called someone.
"Hello, I need a favor."
"Yes, sir. What is it?"
"Check all the records on a woman named Raya who was injured in the accident earlier."
"Understood. Hospital records?"
"Everything. Her full name, address, family, occupation, phone number. I want it all."
"Yes, sir."
Rama ended the call.
But only a few seconds later, his phone began vibrating again.
A message had come in.
Rama opened it.
There was only one photo.
A photo of Raya.
She appeared to be standing in front of a house.
Beside her stood a man whose face had been deliberately covered.
Rama furrowed his brow.
A second message came in.
Don't interfere.
Rama stared at the screen, his jaw tightening.
Then the final message appeared.
Because the person you're protecting is not Raya.
Rama froze.
His eyes turned toward the ICU door again.
"If she's not Raya..."
His fingers slowly tightened around the phone.
"Then who is she really?"
Inside the ICU, Raya suddenly opened her eyes.
She stared at the ceiling.
A sharp throbbing suddenly spread through her head.
A faint voice surfaced in her memory.
"Run, Raya!"
Raya covered her ears.
"Ahh!"
The doctor immediately moved closer.
"Raya?"
Raya was breathing hard.
"There's someone..."
"Who?"
Raya closed her eyes.
The figure of a man slowly emerged in her mind.
His face wasn't clear.
But that voice...
Raya recognized it.
"He..."
"What do you remember?"
Raya opened her eyes.
Tears streamed down her cheeks.
"He was chasing me."
The doctor fell silent.
Outside the room, Rama, who had just happened to return to retrieve something, heard Raya's voice.
He immediately opened the door.
"What happened?"
Raya turned toward him.
Her expression changed to one of fear.
"Mr. Rama..."
Rama approached her.
"It's okay. I'm here."
Raya gripped his hand tightly.
"Don't let him find me."
Rama stared at her.
"Who?"
Raya shook her head through her tears.
"I don't know..."
She closed her eyes.
"But I remember one thing."
"What?"
Raya looked at Rama, her face pale.
"Before the accident..."
Her breath caught for a moment.
"...I was running from someone."
Rama fell silent.
Raya's words only filled his mind with more questions.
"Who were you running from?"
Raya slowly shook her head.
"I don't know."
"Try to remember his face."
"I can't."
Raya closed her eyes. Both her hands clenched on top of the blanket.
"I only remember... the sound of a car."
Rama furrowed his brow.
"A car?"
"Yes."
Raya nodded slowly.
"The engine was incredibly loud. I was running. Then someone called my name."
"Who?"
Raya opened her eyes.
"A man."
"What did he say?"
Raya tried to remember.
But suddenly, the pain returned to her head.
"Aah!"
Rama immediately moved closer.
"That's enough. Don't force yourself."
The doctor quickly checked her condition.
"Mr. Rama, step outside for now."
Rama was about to comply, but Raya suddenly grabbed his arm.
"Don't..."
Rama looked at her hand.
"Raya..."
"Don't leave me."
The woman's voice trembled.
Rama finally nodded.
"I'm here."
The doctor sighed, then checked Raya's blood pressure.
"She needs to stay calm. Her memories may come back little by little. Don't force her."
Rama nodded.
But his thoughts only grew more troubled.
The mysterious phone call.
The threatening messages.
The photo of Raya with a man.
And now her admission that she'd been running from someone before the accident.
