“In that case, I’ll take my leave, Young Master,” Doctor James said. He bowed before finally leaving the room.
Now, only Valiant and the head butler, Robert, remained.
“I’ll take my leave as well, Young Master ...”
“Robert.”
Valiant’s call stopped the middle-aged man in his tracks.
“Yes, sir? Is there anything else you need?” he asked.
“Let’s get straight to the point. You know what happened that night, don’t you?”
“Yes, sir,” Robert replied without denying it.
“That means you also know about the woman who slept with me.”
“I know, Young Master.”
“Find out everything you can about her and bring me the results tomorrow!”
“Yes, Young Master.”
“And one more thing ... No one else is to know about this matter—not you and me. That includes Mama and Victoria.”
“As you command, Young Master.”
“And one last thing, Robert. Make that woman my personal servant.”
“Excuse me? Are you sure, sir?”
“Yes. Because I need to make sure of something,” Valiant replied, showing his smirk again.
His expression was filled with sinister schemes.
“As you command, Young Master.”
Robert bowed, then walked away, leaving Valiant alone in the room.
“You’ll be mine, woman ... no matter what,” Valiant murmured.
Meanwhile, outside the mansion, Ateera had just arrived and was walking inside.
She intended to go straight to her room and clean herself up. However, someone calling her name stopped her in her tracks.
“Ateera.”
The woman turned around. Her smile widened when she saw that it was Mala who had called her.
“Ra, you’re back? How’s your younger sibling?” she asked.
“My sibling is doing fine.”
“Thank goodness. I’m glad to hear that.” Mala suddenly looked as if she had remembered something. “Oh, right. I almost forgot. The head butler was looking for you earlier. He said that once you came back, you were to report to him.”
“Me? But why?”
“I don’t know. You’d better go to his office right away.”
Ateera nodded, though her face was filled with doubt.
She walked slowly toward the head butler’s office. All sorts of questions filled her mind about why Robert had summoned her.
Have I done something wrong? Or was I late coming back? But I even arrived twenty minutes early. There shouldn’t be a problem. So what’s the reason?
Before she knew it, Ateera had reached the door to the head butler’s office.
Her gaze fixed on the brown door in front of her. For some reason, she felt the same tension as before. Her heart began pounding even harder.
But after gathering her courage, Ateera finally knocked on the door.
Knock! Knock!
“Come in!”
Ateera’s body tensed when she heard the response from inside.
She opened the door and stepped in.
“You summoned me, Head Butler?” she said after stopping directly in front of Robert’s desk.
“Yes. There’s something I want to tell you.”
“Have I done something wrong?”
“No. But I want to inform you that starting tomorrow, you’ll be assigned as the Young Master’s personal servant.”
“What?”
Like she had been struck by lightning, Ateera fell silent at the information she had just heard. She was so shocked that she couldn’t get a single word out.
“Was I unclear?”
“N-no, b-but, Head Butler ... I-I’m a new servant. How can I become the Young Master’s personal servant? I’m bound to make so many mistakes.”
“This decision cannot be changed. That means you must continue carrying out your duties. We’re done here. You may leave,” Robert said.
Unable to argue, Ateera could only bow before turning around and leaving the room.
She stepped outside feeling even more uneasy. Once again, her head was filled with questions she couldn’t answer.
Why did the Young Master ask me to become his personal servant? Doesn’t he hate being touched by other people? Doesn’t he also hate having just anyone enter his room? Then why ...?
“Wait ...”
Ateera suddenly stopped.
“Is it possible that he remembers me? Could he have realized that I was the one who slept with him that night?”
Ateera instinctively covered her mouth. She was shocked by the thought that had just occurred to her. But the more she thought about it, the more likely it seemed that this was what had really happened.
What should I do if that’s true? Will I be punished?
Ateera began to panic. Her thoughts grew more chaotic, and her heart continued to churn until she stopped paying attention to where she was going.
Until—
Thud!
She accidentally crashed into someone in front of her.
“Ahh!”
Ateera grimaced as her body hit the floor hard.
Her gaze fell on a pair of black high heels standing directly in front of her.
Slowly, Ateera raised her head to see whom she had bumped into.
A beautiful woman stood before her.
The woman stared down at Ateera with a cold, utterly arrogant gaze.
