Alessandro felt someone pat him on the shoulder.
Yet he still didn't react. Calmly, Alessandro glanced sideways out of the corner of his eye.
His eyes narrowed when he saw who was standing behind him.
“You!” he exclaimed.
The person behind Alessandro smiled, as if letting him know how happy he was to see Alessandro again.
“Finally, we meet again. Right?” said the person, who was none other than Enzo.
But unlike Enzo, who looked as enthusiastic as ever, Alessandro merely gave him his usual flat stare.
This time, however, the man's gaze conveyed something more—he clearly didn't like this situation.
“How can you be here? Didn't you fail?” Alessandro asked.
“Ah, that. I did fail to become Miss's personal servant. But I was accepted as an ordinary servant here.”
“An ordinary servant?”
Enzo nodded. “I'm glad we can meet again. It seems fate really wants us to become friends. So, will you be my friend?”
Just like before, Enzo held out his hand to Alessandro.
But just as before, Alessandro merely looked at it without any intention of accepting it.
“Leo?”
Alessandro glanced at Enzo. His amber eyes closely studied the man in front of him.
Then, without saying another word, Alessandro turned around and walked away, ignoring Enzo.
Seeing that, Enzo could only smile.
He shook his head, wondering what was wrong with him that made Alessandro so unwilling to accept his friendship.
Meanwhile, Alessandro walked on, displeased.
His expression was angry. “That strange man keeps bothering me. He might become a threat to my plan,” he muttered irritably.
That night, Alessandro had finished his work for the day.
Alisia had also told him to rest.
Naturally, Alessandro had no intention of wasting the opportunity.
He would return to his room first and work out his next plan for gathering important information, whether about this mansion or Julian Thorne.
This time, Alessandro walked casually toward his room.
But his eyes still showed a wary vigilance.
He passed through the dark hallway toward his room, only a few steps away from reaching it.
However, just as Alessandro stood directly in front of his bedroom door, with only the act of opening it left to do,
a voice he recognized all too well called his name again.
“Leo.”
Alessandro's hand stopped moving, and he immediately turned around.
The same figure from earlier that afternoon appeared once more.
It was Enzo—the very person Alessandro had no desire to see.
“So, your room is in this hallway too?” Enzo asked.
Alessandro looked slightly surprised when he heard that. He realized that Enzo had apparently also been assigned a room in the same hallway as him.
“Wow, looks like I was right. Fate really wants us to be friends. Unexpectedly, my room is here too.” Enzo looked even more enthusiastic.
But the anger inside Alessandro only grew stronger.
“How did your room end up here? Isn't the east hallway reserved for Miss's personal servants?” Alessandro asked.
“I don't know either. The head servant said my room was here, so I just followed his instructions,” Enzo replied.
Enzo smiled again. “So, now you'll be my friend, right?”
As if he refused to give up, Enzo held out his hand to Alessandro yet again, hoping the man would accept his friendship this time.
But instead of taking it, Alessandro opened his bedroom door and walked straight inside.
Leaving Enzo frozen in place.
“Failed again?” Enzo muttered. He drew a long breath, then opened his own bedroom door and went inside.
Inside his room, Alessandro did not immediately rest. Instead, he paced back and forth as if thinking about something.
“How could that strange man suddenly be accepted here? Didn't he only apply to become Alisia's prospective personal servant? He failed. He should have left this place. But all of a sudden, he was hired as an ordinary servant instead?”
Alessandro felt that something was wrong here.
The situation became even stranger when that man's room was placed in the same hallway as his.
“Was this planned?” he muttered.
