It wasn't long before Raiden finally reached his destination. However, he kept a safe distance of about half a kilometer. He hid his bicycle behind the dense foliage along the road, then carefully entered a tall building nearby.
There were far too many undead filling the streets. It would be impossible to break through without losing his life.
Raiden slowly climbed the emergency stairs beside the building and hurried to grab his camera. Through the DSLR's zoom lens, which could magnify the scene several times while producing incredibly clear images, he finally saw that the zombies were swarming an armored vehicle.
On top of it stood a beautiful woman with long hair, dressed in an unusual outfit. On top, she wore a cream-colored knitted wool sweater, while from the waist down she wore military-patterned cargo pants.
She also wore a very distinctive weapon harness. Raiden's brow furrowed deeply.
"She looks like she's very experienced at fighting enemies," he thought, his expression full of admiration.
The woman's face was perfectly visible because the lights around the area were incredibly bright. That was because their destination was a massive shopping mall.
Rather than marveling at the woman's beauty, which resembled that of a top-class supermodel, Raiden admired how independent, badass, and tough she looked.
Raiden smiled faintly.
He hadn't met another human being in months, especially not a woman. Yet when he finally did, he encountered someone highly unusual, as if he had just come face-to-face with the female lead of an action movie.
"Should I help her?" he muttered to himself jokingly.
After all, Raiden was actually a coward, just as Bayuda Gunawan had said. Besides, in his opinion, forcing yourself to play the hero during a zombie apocalypse was the most ridiculous and idiotic thing you could do.
Why pretend to be a hero when you only had one life?
Raiden eventually decided to sit back and relax along the building's railing, lazily watching the beautiful woman struggle to escape the horde of undead.
A burst of gunfire rang through the air. Raiden figured she probably had plenty of ammunition, so there was no need to worry about her.
Who said independent women were a bad thing? Didn't they actually help men a lot? He couldn't understand why there were men in this world who didn't like independent women. As far as Raiden was concerned, one would solve half his problems.
While observing the situation below, he enjoyed the potato chips he'd brought as emergency food. Then he picked up his communicator and contacted Bayuda.
"What's going on? What happened over there?" he asked seriously.
Raiden answered lazily.
"Yeah, just like you said, Boss. There's a human here. A very beautiful woman, but she's incredibly brave. I have to admit, she's impressive. She's fighting a whole bunch of zombies by herself. Hang on, let me take a picture first."
"What? Take a picture? What are you doing? Hey, Raiden! Raiden!"
Unfortunately, Raiden ignored Bayuda's curious shouting. He switched off the communicator and immediately reached for his DSLR.
Holding his breath, he aimed at the scene.
The sight below was incredibly dangerous and terrifying. But to Raiden, with a woman that beautiful, it looked like an extraordinary masterpiece.
"Wow, that's amazing. It looks like a zombie movie poster!" he praised himself as he looked at the pictures he'd taken.
Not satisfied with that, he captured several shots from different angles. Then he grabbed a phone from the most expensive brand released the previous year and photographed the scene from a distance, even though the results weren't as good as those from his expensive camera.
He photographed and recorded every moment using his DSLR and phone. It was as if he were a director determined not to miss his best shot.
What he had just done was something Raiden always prioritized whenever he traveled from one city to another or encountered something interesting.
Once he was satisfied with the photos and videos, he sat cross-legged on the floor and examined the images.
Suddenly, another explosion went off.
The vibration in the ground reached the building floor, just as it had before.
Raiden's eyebrows shot up.
"Is that woman dead?"
In a relaxed, lazy manner, he went over to check the railing.
"Wow, impressive. So the zombies were the ones targeted by the bomb. But didn't she think their virus could spread everywhere? Turns out she's the beautiful-but-stupid type, too."
Raiden rested his chin on one hand and lazily picked up his DSLR while observing the situation below. The beautiful woman was truly acting like the female lead in an action movie.
"She's practically acting in a movie. She reminds me of the most popular zombie movie."
Raiden was referring to the female character in a short red dress with a weapon in her hand, slaughtering and confronting the undead as they continued mutating into horrifying monsters.
The difference was that the woman below was dressed like a special forces soldier, and her face was cold and expressionless.
"What a shame to waste a pretty face like that on such a fierce look."
Raiden clicked his tongue regretfully, then watched the scene again while chewing on the rest of his potato chips.
He didn't forget to grab the communicator and check on Bayuda.
"Hey, why did you just turn off the communicator? What happened? There was just an explosion. Are you all right?"
"Yeah, Boss, I'm fine," he replied curtly.
Raiden's eyes lazily followed the woman as she finally managed to climb down from the armored vehicle. In the distance, she ran toward the mall's main entrance and fired several bursts in different directions.
"What was that sound? Who got shot? Hey! Raiden! Raiden!"
"Boss, stop yelling. I'm still here. I'm not stupid enough to go into a battlefield and get myself killed. I'm not interested in becoming a hero. Got it?"
"I never told you to get yourself killed! Hurry up and tell me what happened over there!" Bayuda shouted angrily.
He didn't understand Raiden's way of thinking at all. The guy was far too laid-back and incredibly annoying.
Raiden's brow furrowed deeply. He continued watching the scene below through his DSLR.
The woman in the cream-colored knitted wool sweater seemed to be cornered and had been forced to enter the building. A horde of undead hurried after her, moving slowly but steadily.
"She made it inside the building. Her chances of surviving seem higher if she can make it up to the second floor," he explained to Bayuda.
"Is she carrying anything? Food or something?"
"Huh?"
"I said, is she carrying something or not?"
"Boss, are you still thinking about that? She's fighting the undead. Do you really think she has time to think about food?"
