The Thing That Isn't My Father

Deep in the Vietnamese countryside, among endless rice paddies, bamboo-shaded cottages and evenings smelling of ripening grain, stands a house villagers avoid mentioning once the sun goes down. It is home to Mr. Nho and Mrs. Tinh, who raised Nha Han, now nineteen, after she was orphaned as a small child. Her life was quiet and loving until a search for someone able to summon the dead, to bring back her late father, set off a chain of uncanny events. Footsteps circling the house at midnight. Knocks with no knocker. The same dreams again and again. And a man insisting he can return the dead to the living. But is whatever wants to cross the threshold truly the father she misses? Or does the talk of spirits and rituals hide something far more frightening? Steeped in rural Vietnamese atmosphere, this horror tale blends spiritual terror, obsession and the darkness of the human heart, exploring what it costs to trust someone who knows exactly how to use your fear against you. Sometimes the scariest thing isn't what waits outside the door, but the person beyond it convincing you there's a ghost within.
