The man had collected quite a lot of books, then stored them in that room.
After Anastasya gathered up the clumps of paper and put them into a container, David allowed her to leave his room.
"Okay, you can go. And I hope you’ll get used to this room from now on. Don’t leave any more trash in my room," David told Anastasya.
"O-Okay, sir. Excuse me," Anastasya said, bowing her head in front of David.
She felt oppressed once again by the strangeness of the magnificent house. But Anastasya still wanted to endure it for her mother and younger sibling.
“Hmm … this is kind of a hassle,” Anastasya muttered to herself.
She immediately left David’s room, but her mind still didn’t feel at ease after meeting one of the Abraham family members, so she spoke to herself. "Oh God, meeting just one person has already made my heart race like this. What about the others? Give me strength, God. I hope I can stand working here," Anastasya said, clutching her chest.
She then headed to another room—Vivi’s room—but when she knocked, it turned out Vivi was inside. The girl immediately spoke to the sweet maid.
"Yeah, this is what my room looks like. But it’s already clean," Vivi said, smiling at Anastasya.
"S-So, what should I do, miss?" Anastasya asked, confusion written across her face.
"You’d better go to Kak Alex’s room. It’s usually pretty messy in there. Go check for yourself," Vivi suggested.
"O-Okay, miss. Excuse me," Anastasya said to Vivi.
“Yeah,” Vivi replied.
Then, without thinking about Mr. Abraham’s room, Anastasya headed toward the back balcony and decided to clean Alex’s room. But when she knocked on the door, there was no answer from inside.
"May I come in, sir? I was ordered to clean this room," Anastasya asked, seeking permission from the room’s owner.
Silence. There wasn’t any response at all.
So Anastasya mustered her courage and decided to open the door. It turned out to be unlocked. But when she looked inside, Anastasya was utterly shocked.
The smell of alcohol greeted Anastasya the moment she reached the doorway, making her uncomfortable with the condition of the room.
"This room is such a mess … Is this really his room? It looks more like a storage room," Anastasya muttered the first time she saw Alex’s room.
Although she wasn’t sure whether this was really the room Alex lived in, Anastasya chose to continue her work. It was her duty and responsibility, after all.
“Come on, let’s do this, Anastasya. This is for Mom and your younger sibling,” Anastasya muttered, encouraging herself.
Trash was scattered all over the floor—tissues, peanut shells, and snack wrappers. There appeared to be spills of red and yellow drinks on the table, while the bed hadn’t been made at all. The blanket was still rumpled, and the bolster pillow lay on the floor. Who knew what had happened to the room? It looked as though a tornado had torn through it.
"So filthy ...." she whispered.
Anastasya could only draw a deep breath before getting to work. She swept the floor and cleaned up the scattered trash. Then she mopped the floor and made the messy bed. But just as she was about to leave the room, a handsome man suddenly appeared from behind the door. It was Alex.
However, his appearance was the complete opposite of David’s. Although handsome, Alex looked disheveled, his hair messy as if it had never been combed, and his clothes were horribly untidy. Half his shirt was tucked in, while the other half hung loose. In the handsome man’s hand was a still-burning cigarette.
Anastasya thought this handsome man probably rarely bathed and might even hang out with street punks. But she didn’t want to dwell on it. She might become even more stressed dealing with the people in Mr. Abraham’s house.
If not for the money, Anastasya might have chosen to run away and find another job. But that was her fate. She had no diploma or qualifications whatsoever, which made it seem impossible for her to freely find another job.
The disheveled man then greeted the maid who was tidying his room.
"Are you the new cleaning lady here?" the handsome man asked Anastasya as he took a drag from his cigarette.
