What the young woman hadn't expected was that when faced with her most powerful weapons—her beautiful face and alluring figure—Shi You merely glanced up at her before looking away. And before he completely ignored her, his eyes had already shifted to disgust and contempt.
She had never been looked at like that before. It hurt.
But when she saw Shi You walk away without looking back, the young woman could only suppress her displeasure. She called out to him sweetly twice more.
But Shi You not only didn't look back—he didn't even slow his pace.
Anger surged through her. The young woman's beautiful face twisted as she glared left and right, picked up the alarm clock on the bedside table, set it, and hurled it at Shi You with all her strength.
Not going to help me?
Then you can die!
“Riiiiiing!!!”
Before the alarm clock hit the ground, its shrill ringing filled the air. The sound echoed throughout the quiet residential complex, instantly drawing a large number of zombies over.
Shi You stopped walking and looked at the alarm clock lying on the ground. Its battery had fallen out, silencing the ringing, but it was already too late. Nearly thirty zombies emerged from every corner. To Shi You, who had leveled up once again, they posed no threat. He raised his head and met the young woman's hateful gaze.
“Go to hell!”
The young woman met Shi You's eyes and mouthed the words before dragging over a chair. She wanted to watch with her own eyes as Shi You was miserably devoured by the zombies.
But…just a few seconds later, when she looked down again, Shi You had vanished.
Where did he go?
Where was he now?
The young woman looked left and right, her gaze sweeping across the entire area. But aside from those hideous, terrifying zombies, nothing else was moving.
“Thud!”
At that moment, a sudden noise came from below. She looked toward its source and saw a shadow flash rapidly past two rows of balconies. Before the young woman could react, the shadow stopped right in front of her.
“Ahh!”
When she got a clear look at Shi You's face, the woman screamed in shock. She fell onto the floor in terror and used both her hands and feet to crawl backward. But then, an immense force suddenly burst from behind her head. Strands of hair tore loose one by one as the young woman was violently yanked back.
Shi You leaned forward slightly and smiled gently. “You wanted to kill me?”
The young woman felt as if her scalp were about to split open. Tears began flowing uncontrollably. She struggled, but the only response was a heavy punch from Shi You straight to her face, knocking the silicone out of her nose.
This time, her face really did twist out of shape.
“My nose! My nose!”
The woman sobbed hysterically as tears and blood streamed down her face. Miserable screams escaped her throat.
“You…wanted to kill me?” Shi You still wore a gentle expression, like the nice older brother next door greeting someone in the morning. Of course, that comparison excluded the young woman writhing and sobbing beside him.
“I was wrong! I was wrong! I won't dare do it again! I'm scared! I'm scared!”
The young woman frantically confessed as yellow liquid ran down her thighs and dripped onto the floor, its pungent stench instantly spreading throughout the small balcony.
Shi You released her with a look of disgust. The young woman paid no attention to the filth on the floor and frantically kowtowed to Shi You in apology.
“Don't worry. I won't do anything to you.”
Shi You's words made the young woman stop kowtowing. Surprise mingled with disbelief in her eyes. She couldn't believe Shi You would let her go so easily.
“But…”
Shi You's smile grew even gentler. But his next words made him look like a vicious demon in the young woman's eyes.
“They might not let you go.”
Shi You grabbed the young woman's hair again and threw her out the window. Her body traced a beautiful arc through the air amid her piercing scream before crashing down onto the cluster of zombies gathered below.
It was the fourth floor. Unless her luck was exceptionally bad, even with broken bones, she wouldn't die immediately.
The young woman lay in a pool of blood. Both legs had twisted in opposite directions upon impact, her chest had caved in slightly, and her ribs seemed to have pierced her lungs. All she could do was groan from the back of her throat.
“Ugh…”
The zombies naturally weren't going to let the “gift” that had fallen from the sky get away. As the young woman looked up in despair, the zombies' roars easily drowned out her agonized cries.
“5:31 p.m.”
Shi You leaned against the stair railing, watching the young woman being torn apart by the zombies while glancing at the clock in the room.
There are twenty-nine minutes left before dark, Shi You calculated.
“Still enough time.”
Shi You activated the Falling Feather Ring and jumped straight down from the fourth floor.
The ring flashed. Shi You slammed into the ground without suffering any injuries—not even numbness in his legs.
While the zombies were biting into the young woman's body, Shi You slashed horizontally through the cluster gathered around her.
After leveling up, the experience required for the next level had increased from 100 to 300. A level 1 zombie gave 2 experience points. More than twenty of them meant fifty points—one-sixth of the required experience. How could he let that go? Right?
The open space was wide, and the clumsy zombies were no threat at all to Shi You at level 3. Before long, Shi You dispatched them with ease.
At that moment, the young woman, who had been bitten to pieces, staggered to her feet.
Shi You walked over and cut her in half with a single slash of his saber.
[Experience +2]
Along with the experience notification, a cluster of white light floated out of the young woman's body.
Oh, she dropped an item too?
Not bad.
Shi You reached into the white light and pulled out a card.
No way!
This is unbelievable.
It's equipment too!
Equipment: Shoes of Agility
Tier: Bronze
Attributes: Agility +2
The attributes were pitiful, but two points were still two points. This was the first piece of equipment he had ever gotten as a drop.
See? Sometimes there were benefits to not killing an enemy immediately.
If he'd killed her back on the fourth floor, would he have gotten this equipment? Exactly, right?
Shi You stored the card, then took advantage of the nearby balconies. Instead of using the corridor, he jumped from balcony to balcony until he reached the tenth floor.
The room was quiet. Shi You slashed through the glass door with his saber and entered the living room.
A brand-new wedding photo sat on the bed in the bedroom. The double-happiness symbol pasted to the window hadn't been removed yet, making it look like a newlywed couple had only just moved in.
Shi You searched the room and found a few bags of snacks. He then took out some water, bread, and a can of meat from his supplies.
Cards were convenient to carry. If he had other supplies, he shouldn't use cards.
After taking out the food, Shi You tore the equipment card he had just obtained. The Shoes of Agility looked like a pair of pale green combat boots. They weren't particularly attractive, but this wasn't the time to worry about aesthetics.
Shi You changed his shoes, eating as he looked out the window.
At six in the evening, the blood moon rose, dyeing the dark sky bloodred as the roars of zombies rang out everywhere.
After dinner, Shi You closed the bedroom door and lay down without taking off his clothes.
