But for some reason, Viona's heart suddenly resisted. She didn't hope for a cure, because that would be the same as hoping for someone to leave.
"Mom, I don't hope to regain my sight if it means that girl can be cured. Because if I hope to see through her eyes, that means I'm hoping for her to leave this world as soon as possible."
Sania merely lowered her head and gave a small nod. What Viona said was true. Hoping for Viona to regain her sight was the same as hoping for that girl to leave this world soon. And Sania felt terribly selfish.
"Mom, even if I can see again, I'll still keep fighting. Thank you for fighting for me."
Viona's words brought tears to Sania's eyes. She hadn't expected Viona to change. Only a few days ago, she had still been throwing tantrums.
"I'm happy to see you cheerful again, Viona."
"It's all thanks to Elkan, Mom. He's the one who motivated me to keep going and move forward with my life. He also taught me how to play music. It's been so much fun."
"Oh, really?"
"Yeah, Mom. Elkan taught me to play the piano for several days. And tomorrow, he promised to teach me how to play the violin."
"Wow... That sounds fun. I guess Mom was right to hire Elkan as your caregiver."
"Yeah, Mom. Elkan is really kind."
Elkan, however, felt uncomfortable receiving the praise.
"Don't praise me too much, Miss."
"But it's true, El."
"Thank you, Elkan. You managed to bring Viona's old cheerfulness back."
"You're welcome, ma'am. And thank you for accepting me as an employee."
"Oh, Mom. Elkan also wants to help me finish the mission I put on hold," Viona added.
"A mission? What mission?" Sania asked. She had never known that her daughter held a grudge against someone.
"I want to get revenge on Eagle. I want to destroy him."
Sania fell silent for a moment before asking another question.
"Who is Eagle, anyway?"
"I'll tell you later, Mom. Let me finish my breakfast first."
The three of them continued eating breakfast. Afterward, Sania asked again.
"Viona, try to explain it to Mom. Who exactly is Eagle, and what kind of relationship do you have with him?"
"None, Mom. I don't have any relationship with him. But he's the one who destroyed our family. He was also the one who brought Aunt Hellen into Dad's life, until Dad eventually abandoned us."
Sania furrowed her brow. This was the first time she'd learned that someone had caused her marriage to fall apart.
"How do you know that Eagle deliberately brought Hellen into your father's life?" Sania asked curiously.
"I've been looking into it for a long time, Mom. Eagle made a deal with Aunt Hellen through his business. Aunt Hellen helped Eagle's business a lot. In return, Eagle had to help her take Dad away from you. And he succeeded in destroying your marriage."
"Why didn't you tell Mom about this?"
"No, Mom. I didn't want you to think about Dad again. I didn't want you to be sad anymore. Let me handle it myself. I promised I would destroy Eagle's life."
Sania let out a long sigh. Viona's grudge only made her worried.
"Enough, Viona. Just forget everything. Mom doesn't want anything to happen to you. Let God be the one to punish them for what they did."
"No, Mom. I won't stop."
Elkan, sitting beside Viona, could only remain silent as he watched the blazing hatred within her.
"If I could see again, the first person I'd look for would be Eagle. Then Hellen and Dad. They have to pay dearly for what they did."
Elkan's heart grew increasingly uneasy as he listened to Viona's words.
