Sania stroked Viona's hair, staring at her daughter's face, which was filled with resentment.
"But why have I never heard of anyone named Eagle?" Sania asked.
"They rarely met, Mom. He only became Dad's business partner a year ago. But he already had the nerve to destroy someone else's marriage."
"Enough, Viona. For now, just focus on learning your music. Once you can see again, you can decide what you want to do," Sania said.
"That's right, Miss. You should focus on learning music for now," Elkan agreed.
"I know, El. But you promised to help me get revenge on Eagle. So don't forget. Once I can see again, I'll make sure he pays for what he did."
"Yes, Miss. I won't break my promise."
The days continued to pass. Viona had now become skilled at playing the piano. She had also begun learning the violin. But today, she wanted to spend some of her time at the beach.
Elkan gladly took her to the beach in the late afternoon. For a sighted person, a sunset was incredibly beautiful. Unfortunately, Viona couldn't see it.
"El, is the beach still crowded?" Viona asked when Elkan stopped the car at the edge of the beach.
"Not too crowded. Why do you ask, Miss?"
"I want to walk along the shore. But I'm embarrassed to have people staring at me."
"Why should you be embarrassed, Miss?"
"Because I'm blind," she answered softly.
Viona suddenly lost her confidence.
Elkan got out of the car and opened the door for her.
"That's not a good reason, Miss. People will actually be amazed by your beauty."
Viona still refused to get out of the car.
"Come on, Miss. I'll keep you company while you play in the water."
Viona smiled as she imagined how much fun it would be to play in the water by the shore. In the end, she got out without bringing her white cane.
Viona walked with her hand linked through Elkan's arm. The sea breeze immediately welcomed them. Her hair fluttered beautifully in the wind.
Although she couldn't see, Viona could still feel the beauty of the beach. The sound of the crashing waves reached her ears clearly.
"Elkan."
"Yes, Miss?"
"Can you still see the sun?"
"It's about to set, Miss."
"Wow... The sunset must be beautiful. Too bad I can't see it."
"That's all right, Miss. But it seems the sun is watching Miss Viona," Elkan said with a soft laugh.
"Why is it watching me?" Viona asked, laughing along.
"Because Miss Viona is too beautiful."
"Oh, stop flattering me."
"I'm not lying, Miss. The sunset makes Miss Viona's face look even more beautiful."
Viona stopped walking.
"Is the sun in front of me?"
"Yes, Miss."
Viona took a deep breath. Then she lifted her face slightly and spread both arms wide. The evening breeze swept enthusiastically over her body, sending the skirt she wore fluttering behind her.
"How is it, Miss? Fun, isn't it?"
Viona nodded. For the first time since going blind, she truly felt happy.
"El, take me to the shore. I want to wash my feet there."
"Yes, Miss."
Elkan led Viona to the water's edge. Their feet, still wearing the shoes they'd put on when they got out of the car, immediately met the waves chasing one another toward shore.
Viona laughed again when the seawater touched her feet.
"El, I want to capture this moment. Once I can see again, I'll be able to see what it was like here today."
"Of course, Miss." Elkan then took his phone from his pocket.
"Smile, Miss," Elkan said before snapping a picture.
Viona posed by forming a heart with her thumb and index finger.
"El, I want a picture of the two of us," she requested.
Elkan looked around for someone who could help take the picture. There were still several people passing by. Eventually, he found someone willing to help.
"Ma'am, could you take a picture for me?"
"Of course."
Elkan and Viona then posed like a couple in love. After taking the picture, the woman handed Elkan's phone back to him and said, "You two make such a beautiful couple. You're very handsome, and she's beautiful too."
For the first time, Viona felt a strange flutter in her heart. She had only just realized that Elkan had an incredibly handsome face.
