Reno leaned his head back against the chair. He had just finished a meeting. Reno felt a little dizzy. Maybe it was because he hadn't been able to sleep the night before.
“Are you sick, Sir?” Gery's voice made Reno narrow his eyes.
“No. Why, Ger?”
Gery slowly shook his head. “You don't look like you have much energy,” he continued.
Was it really that obvious? Who knew? Reno wasn't sure. But it was true that he felt completely unmotivated at the moment. His head hurt, too.
“Oh, right, Ger. Have you found her yet?”
Gery immediately furrowed his brow as he tried to process what Reno had just said.
“Found what, Sir?” Gery asked, confused.
“What are you talking about? You said you were starting to feel overwhelmed by your current workload.”
At that, Gery immediately understood what Reno meant.
“You mean the secretary, right?” Gery asked, wanting to make sure he hadn't misunderstood.
Reno nodded slowly. “Weren't you the one who asked me to find a secretary?” Reno asked in return.
Gery broke into a wide smile. His workload wouldn't be as heavy as it had been these past few months anymore. Gery had truly felt overwhelmed having to serve as both personal assistant and secretary.
“Yes, Sir. At least the heavy workload I've been dealing with these past few months will be reduced a little,” Gery admitted honestly.
“All right, then. You can make the announcement starting now. You remember what kind of person you need to choose, right?”
Gery nodded quickly. “Of course I remember, Sir.”
Gery left Reno alone. The man let out a soft sigh after the door to his office closed tightly behind him.
Reno was once again haunted by what Astri had said some time ago. Her words had made him uncomfortable.
“Ah, do I really have to think about what Mom said?” Reno muttered, rubbing his chin.
Lately, there always seemed to be something weighing on his mind.
To distract himself, Reno began checking the work Gery had prepared earlier. At least that way, Reno's thoughts would be diverted from the things that were bothering him.
Melati woke up when the sun was already high in the sky. The girl stretched on the bed and squinted as she looked to the side. Resa was still sound asleep.
Melati shifted into a sitting position. Then she reached for the phone lying on the table beside the bed. A few seconds later, Melati's face fell.
“I'd better take a shower first. Maybe it'll help reduce my stress a little,” Melati muttered as she got out of bed.
Melati walked into the bathroom, leaving Resa asleep. They had gone to bed far too late the night before. The two girls had spent the night talking and venting to each other.
Especially since Melati wasn't doing well at all. So Resa had ended up becoming the person Melati could vent to.
Melati spent nearly twenty minutes freshening up. When she came out of the bathroom, Resa was already awake.
The shoulder-length-haired girl smiled at Melati.
“Where are you going?” Resa asked, squinting.
Melati glanced over as she opened the closet to get a change of clothes.
“Nowhere,” Melati replied.
Resa merely snorted in annoyance. She was annoyed because Melati was being so indifferent.
“You're not going to shower?”
A moment later, Melati spoke again. Resa, who had been playing on her phone, stopped what she was doing.
“Why should I shower? We're not going anywhere,” she replied casually.
Melati let out a long sigh. Then she sat down on the edge of the bed.
“Aren't you hungry?” Melati asked, fixing her with a sharp look.
Resa nodded slowly. “Of course I'm hungry. It's already afternoon, Mel.”
“Exactly, so hurry up and take a shower! Then we'll go out and get some food,” Melati said as she got to her feet.
Resa agreed and immediately headed for the bathroom.
After Resa finished getting ready, the two girls left Melati's apartment. Even though they'd missed breakfast, they still needed food to fill their stomachs. Luckily, Resa wasn't working today, so she could keep Melati company.
“What do you want to eat?” Melati asked as they had just stepped out of the apartment.
Resa rolled her eyes as if she were thinking. Then the girl smiled at Melati. It seemed she'd already found the answer to the question she'd just been asked.
“What do you want to eat?”
But it wasn't the answer Melati had expected. Instead of answering her question, Resa asked her the same thing.
“I was asking you. Why are you asking me instead?” Melati grumbled.
“Rather than eat out, why don't we just buy some cooking ingredients? We can cook later. It'll be cheaper, right?” Resa suggested with a smile spreading across her face.
Melati was silent for a moment. Then she nodded, agreeing with Resa's idea.
The two girls went to a supermarket not too far from Melati's apartment. Both Melati and Resa looked excited as they chose the ingredients they needed for cooking.
“Do we need this?”
Melati shook her head. “Don't get that one! It already looks like it's not fresh. Try the ones over there!” Melati said, pointing.
Resa nodded and immediately headed in the direction Melati had just indicated.
Melati and Resa spent nearly an hour shopping for food. Afterward, they quickly returned to Melati's apartment.
“You're cooking, right?”
“As if! You are! Why me?” Resa snorted.
Melati shook her head. She had thought Resa would be the one to cook because her friend had been so enthusiastic about shopping instead of going out to eat. But she'd been wrong. If she'd known things would turn out like this, Melati certainly would've refused the invitation in the first place.
