Reno let out a long sigh. “Just tell me! What is it?” This time, Reno’s voice sounded friendlier than before.
“Well, Sir. I received an email from Company X last night. They reported on the progress of our project in Surabaya. You have to go there this afternoon for an on-site inspection,” Gery explained the reason he had called his boss.
Reno looked slightly surprised. He had been waiting for that report for weeks, but his business partner had never given him any updates. Of course, Reno was a little shocked that he suddenly had to leave for Surabaya that afternoon.
Although sudden situations like this were nothing new to Reno, he still felt annoyed.
“All right. Please prepare everything I’ll need as soon as possible.”
“Yes, Sir.”
The call ended. Reno glanced at the clock on the wall. It had just reached five.
Gery had called him at five in the morning. Luckily, Reno hadn’t yelled at his personal assistant, even though he was extremely annoyed that his sleep had been disturbed.
Since it was still so early, Reno decided to sleep for another hour. He was still sleepy, especially since he had to leave for Surabaya that afternoon.
Reno lay back down and immediately closed his eyes.
Melati woke up earlier than usual, while Resa was still fast asleep. Melati had no idea what time her friend had gone to bed the night before.
As usual, the first thing Melati did after waking up was clean herself up. She deliberately didn’t wake Resa. Her friend seemed to have gone to bed very late. She would wake Resa after she finished showering.
Before long, Melati came out of the bathroom. She saw Resa still curled up comfortably beneath the blanket. Melati deliberately walked over and sat on the edge of the bed.
“Res, wake up! It’s morning already. Don’t you have work?” Melati said as she shook Resa.
Disturbed from her sleep, Resa immediately opened her eyes and glared at Melati.
“What is it, Mel? I’m still sleepy,” Resa grumbled.
Melati stood up and walked toward the wardrobe. Every now and then, she glanced over her shoulder to make sure Resa was awake and hadn’t gone back to sleep.
“Resa…” Melati’s voice filled the room.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m up.”
Before Melati could say anything else, Resa had already escaped into the bathroom. Melati could only shake her head at the girl’s behavior.
After getting ready, Melati prepared breakfast for both of them.
“Hurry up, Res! Or I’m leaving without you,” Melati complained, occasionally glancing at the watch on her wrist.
“Be patient! I’m almost ready.”
Melati kept grumbling because Resa was taking so long. Resa refused to let her leave alone, though.
Afraid she would be late, Melati kept urging Resa on.
“Come on! You’re being seriously annoying this morning.”
Melati and Resa left the apartment. Resa was going to drop her off at the office first. Melati could have taken a taxi, but Resa had scolded her and insisted on driving her.
“You’re not going to be late, are you?”
“Quiet, Mel! Trust me.”
“Thanks! Drive carefully!” Melati said as she got out of the car.
Resa gave her a brief nod and drove off again. She needed to get to her own office as soon as possible.
Melati walked into the building she had visited the day before. She felt a little nervous. When she passed several employees, she made sure to greet them with a friendly smile.
Melati went straight into the elevator and pressed the button for the eighth floor. The room she was headed to was on the eighth floor.
Gery had contacted Melati earlier and told her to go straight to the eighth floor. Apparently, her office would be there as well.
Ding!
Melati had arrived on the eighth floor. She was a little confused because she didn’t know where she was supposed to wait. She looked around.
“Melati…” A man’s voice made her turn around.
“Yes, Sir. I’m Melati,” the girl replied.
“Just go inside. Mr. Reno wants to see you.”
The man speaking pointed toward a room. Melati followed the man named Gery.
