One afternoon, Daniel met a little girl named Lily sitting alone beside the river. She was drawing pictures in a notebook. “What are you drawing?” Daniel asked. “The world.”
Daniel looked at the page. There were mountains, flowers, birds, and a huge yellow sun. “Why is the sun so big?” “Because it gives everyone light.”
Daniel smiled. “Do you think everyone has something to give?” Lily nodded confidently. “Of course.”
“What if someone doesn’t know what they have to give?” “Then they have to keep looking.”
Her simple answer surprised Daniel. Adults often complicated questions that children answered naturally.
That evening, Daniel realized something. Perhaps his purpose wasn’t waiting somewhere in the future. Perhaps it was hidden inside the things he could give today.
