There was still half an hour to go before the movie I’d bought tickets for today started, and I’d already wasted almost fifteen minutes of it just waiting for him.
It was so damn annoying, considering I was an extremely punctual person, while the guy I was waiting for clearly wasn’t anything like me. I let out a long sigh before glancing at my phone screen for the twentieth time. Still no reply in the text thread from Danis.
Oh, this guy…
My irritation was starting to boil over. I wasn’t the kind of person who could patiently wait around. I valued time way too much, and yet here I was waiting for that guy like an idiot near the entrance, stomping my feet in high heels as hard as I could and taking my anger out on the movie poster in front of me instead of the guy who still hadn’t shown up. How could you ever catch feelings for a slob like this?
“Seriously, what the hell is wrong with that guy?! If he doesn’t show up here in the next five minutes, I’m breaking both his legs! Drop dead! Ugh!”
My yelling caught the attention of a theater attendant standing not far away. He walked over while clearing his throat and asked me not to cause a scene, which I immediately answered with a sharp glare.
“What are you looking at?! Want to take his place so I can hit you instead?! Fine. Come here!” I rolled up my sleeves, getting ready to punch the man, and he immediately backed down and retreated to his post, pretending he couldn’t see me at all. Not that I actually wanted to hit him…
As if I had the guts to do that.
“Hey, Nia! Sorry I’m late—”
I spun around as fast as I could and found Danis waving at me, walking over with a completely guilt-free look on his face and laughing as he greeted me. I immediately grabbed his hand and punched him in the stomach as hard as I could.
Hearing his cheerful voice at a time like this without even a hint of remorse was more than enough reason for me to beat him up. He instantly grimaced in pain when my punch landed, and without giving him a chance to recover, I grabbed his collar and pressed my clenched fist against his left cheek.
“Say it, Danis! Say you want this. I’ll give it to you, for real!”
“Ow, Nia. You’re so full of energy.”
I pressed my hand harder until his cheek turned red under the pressure. “What excuse are you going to make this time, Danis? You should’ve just stayed home! Do you want to die, huh?! Say it!”
This guy… Seriously, give me a break.
Instead of looking scared, Danis burst out laughing. What a lunatic!
“Just like always, huh? My Nia’s super healthy!”
I was about to punch him in the stomach for the second time when I heard a woman laughing behind me. I turned around and found a woman still chuckling softly. She looked incredibly elegant, and she was staring at me with intense interest. I quickly released my grip on Danis and tried to cover up my earlier rough behavior by acting graceful, fixing my appearance, and extending my right hand toward her.
“Hi, nice to meet you.”
The woman was still laughing as she took my hand. Oh my God, she had such a gentle presence. She was completely different from me.
“Nice to meet you too, Nia. Don’t call me Sis! We’re only a few years apart. I’m Lisa Vieno, but just call me Lisa.” Lisa bent down slightly and placed a hand on top of my head, gently stroking it. “Wow, you’re really tiny, huh? Danis has told me a lot about you, but I didn’t expect you to be this cute. By the way, are those the tickets?”
