Salma's POV.
I always thought Adrian was one of the most annoying men ever, and that he was stubborn as a mule, but I was wrong about all of it.
During the entire ride back to Jaya Perkasa Group, Adrian kept asking me questions.
“Fish… what fish has a thousand eyes?” Adrian suddenly asked.
Since I don't hear very well, I leaned closer to Adrian. “Huh? A thousand-legged fish? Say that again. I didn't hear you.”
Adrian repeated himself, this time louder than I expected.
“Fish… what fish has a thousand eyes?”
I was confused. What fish had a thousand eyes? Wasn't that a pretty weird question to ask me?
“A thousand-eye fish?” I asked in a soft voice.
Adrian laughed, clearly very pleased with himself.
“Wrong. That's not the answer, in case you were wondering.”
I immediately smacked Adrian's shoulder with my hand. It was a pretty hard hit.
“Then what is it if it's not a fish with a thousand eyes?” I pouted at him. Adrian was annoying—so unbelievably annoying.
“The answer is anchovies. Try counting the eyes in a kilo and see how many there are.”
I never expected Adrian's answer to be so completely nonsensical.
While riding behind Adrian, I immediately pulled out my phone.
“Holy crap, Adrian's answer was actually right.”
I smacked myself on the head with my phone, hoping the whole thing had just been a dream.
During the ride, we talked for so long that I even forgot I was on my way to Jaya Perkasa Group.
In front of the office, I spotted Riko and Angga checking the products that had just arrived.
“Well, well, well… look at the newlyweds… ahem… ahem…”
I looked toward the source of the voice. Riko had been the one talking.
I took off my helmet. I wanted to throw it at him and give Riko a huge bump on the head. I was seriously pissed.
Adrian's motorcycle stopped right in front of the two of them. He really seemed to be deliberately stirring up pointless chaos.
“So, Yan, when's the engagement?”
Adrian chuckled, then took off his helmet and looked at the two of them with a mischievous smile.
“I'll just go with whatever Ms. Salma says…”
I clenched the documents I'd been carrying. If Mr. Bayu saw what I was doing, I'd definitely get a lecture.
Ah, whatever. I could just print them again later. Mr. Bayu probably wouldn't find out anyway.
Adrian went over to the two of them and joined them in checking the newly arrived products.
“Do you think this shipment came in a large quantity?” Adrian asked.
I remembered that the customer had requested a large shipment, so Adrian immediately checked to make sure.
Adrian would be a perfect sales leader. He was equally capable both out in the field and in the office.
“Looks like you need to put together a presentation now, Ms. Salma. I'm worried you'll run short on time. I'm checking the products with Riko and Angga first.”
Angga, watching our interaction, held a pen and sang cheerfully, “Oh, how happy the newlyweds are—scribble, scribble.”
Riko, standing beside him, joined in with a quiet laugh.
“Sitting side by side, joking around—scribble, scribble.”
I headed straight to the office kitchen and grabbed a cup of coffee that was still warm. Hearing Angga and Riko made my head ache a little.
My luck really sucked.
“Hey, what's up with you? You just got here and your face is already all scrunched up. Where's the report? Hand it over.”
Friska came up beside me and demanded the report I was carrying.
“I'm really pissed off, Fris. Can't you be quiet for a minute? You're hounding me about deadlines. At least cheer me up or something.”
Friska turned to me sharply. “No way. I'm not some seasonal clown. Right now, I need to focus on that heartless deadline.”
I nodded and handed her the flash drive from my bag.
“Just look for yesterday's data. I already combined everything into one folder.”
Friska took the flash drive from my hand, then walked away.
My head suddenly felt incredibly heavy after I finished my coffee. I didn't know whether I was dizzy from work or from the two crazy people who had just greeted me.
“If I don't work on this presentation now, Mr. Bayu is going to blow his top.”
Even with my heavy eyes, I tried to make a concept map for the material I was going to turn into a PowerPoint, but unfortunately, everything suddenly went dark.
