Salma's POV.
I'm so stressed. Seriously, I'm stressed. This one client is such a pain, oh my God, oh my God. And on top of that, Adrian keeps picking fights with me.
Can I quit already?
“Salma, later you and Adrian will head into the field to figure out what market strategy we should use next.”
Why am I spending more and more time with Adrian? Couldn't someone else go for once?
“Okay, Mr. Bayu.” I stayed focused on my laptop, completely ignoring everyone around me.
Riko was already holding back his laughter with Friska. Those two really loved teasing me.
“You find the place later. I’ll just tag along,” I told Adrian without even looking at him.
Angga, who was discussing a report with Adrian, chimed in with a comment that made everyone else get the wrong idea.
“Huh? You’re looking for a vendor with Adrian?”
Riko immediately turned around. “I didn’t expect this to happen so soon,” he said, shaking his head in disbelief. He even wiped away a tear like he was deeply moved.
“Fris, you bring the tiffin carrier and I’ll bring the basin. It’s time for us to raid the buffet at Salma and Adrian’s wedding.”
Isn’t anyone going to defend me? My life here seriously sucks. As if the marketing staff weren’t already driving me crazy, now the sales staff had to join in too.
Oh my God… oh my God… I need to escape this place. Come on, money, get here fast so I can quit and build a city with no crazy people in it.
“Fine, I’ll find the place. You just have to come along, ma’am.”
What kind of answer was that? It made everything sound ambiguous.
Hopefully, those people with less than half a percent of a brain weren’t listening.
“Man, if I weren’t being chased by my beloved deadlines, I’d already be joining in on the Salma-bashing.”
Riko’s fingers were focused on his laptop keyboard, but his mouth was still busy meddling in my life.
“Hahaha, same. These past few days, I thought we were the ones busy showing off our boyfriends, but now Salma’s the one busy flaunting her romance.”
They were insane. This time, Friska joined in too.
Come on, Sales, add some more. I’m totally ready—ready to pass out in my virtual boyfriend’s arms. Oh, right, he isn’t real. Whatever. I should focus on my deadlines, not on the people who nearly give me high blood pressure every day.
I glanced at Adrian from time to time. Wasn’t he going to respond to all the immoral mouths in this room? Ugh, this was insane. He was leaving me all alone to chatter away in my own defense.
But Adrian was practically made of stone. How could he possibly say a thousand words? I simply sighed, trying to clear my head and get my thoughts back under control.
The door opened, and Mr. Bayu came in carrying a love letter.
“So this is the place you need to survey. After that, the two of you need to plan your strategy. The deadline is Friday because I need innovation from both of you, and I need it quickly.”
After handing me the data, Mr. Bayu left just like that. Well, that’s how bosses were—they did whatever they wanted.
I looked over the data. There were less than five minutes left before our break, and after that I’d be heading into the field with Adrian. Oh my God, why did time move so fast?
I still wanted to stay in the cafeteria longer with people from the other divisions, cooking up the latest gossip about the accounting employee who had just gotten dumped.
Suddenly, that inconsiderate office bell rang at full speed, forcing me to accept that I’d be spending this time with Adrian.
Adrian was already waiting for me in the parking lot. He handed me a helmet.
“Come on, just ride with me into the field.”
I slowly shook my head, refusing Adrian’s invitation. A girl’s got her pride, you know. We can’t just accept right away.
“No thanks. I brought my scooter.”
That incredibly rude Adrian immediately put the helmet on my head. We were so close. Adrian’s cologne smelled amazing, and now I was curious what kind he wore.
“Ugh, I already said I didn’t need it, so I don’t need it. Didn’t you hear? We were just told we’d be going into the field together, and now this is already ambiguous. If we get caught… oh, man, my reputation as the office gossip queen is going to get exposed too.”
I immediately put on an annoyed expression. Seriously, Adrian.
“Stop making so much noise. Time is money. Just do as you’re told and quit talking so much.”
I froze. Was Adrian mad? Or was he lecturing me? His face looked exactly the same either way.
