Anisa watched angrily as her belongings were moved into this empty room one by one. I knew I’d succeeded in making her angry. Her hands were trembling, a clear sign that she was holding back her emotions. She wore a forced smile on her face.
I gave her a triumphant smile. Jevan looked at me. “You can just use the room Anisa used to occupy. It should’ve been yours all along.”
I smiled at Jevan, then looked at Anisa. “Bro, is that really okay? Anisa looks like she might have a problem with it.” As I said that, I lowered my head.
Jevan immediately turned his face away, wanting to catch Anisa’s expression. But Anisa changed hers faster than he could. “You don’t mind, do you?”
“Of course not, Bro. I already feel incredibly guilty because I accidentally stole Amora’s life before.” Anisa put on an expression filled with regret and guilt.
“That’s more like it. Don’t worry, Amora. Anisa’s agreed.”
I calmly nodded and widened my smile until my teeth showed. It was obvious who had won this battle. Me, of course.
Jevan spoke to me again. “If there’s anything you want, just let me know, okay?”
“Okay, Bro.”
Moving all of Anisa’s belongings took a very long time because she had so much stuff. We waited in Jevan’s room.
Knock, knock.
“Excuse me. The move is finished.”
A servant knocked on the door and told us the process was complete. “Well, Amora can move into the room next door now.”
“Since you didn’t bring anything with you, just go on in. If you want to change the furniture or the room’s style, just let me know, okay? Don’t be shy—we’re family.”
I nodded to show that I agreed with Jevan. Anisa’s expression looked even worse. I was the only one who noticed because Jevan was focused on me. Not long after that, Anisa stood up. “Since my room has been moved, I’m going to leave now.”
Anisa quickly left Jevan’s room. We didn’t even have a chance to respond. She looked like she was about to cry. Well, who told her to pick a fight with me? If she’d just been nice, maybe we could’ve gotten along like friends—or even like siblings who weren’t related by blood. But that was only wishful thinking. She’d started treating me like an enemy the moment I arrived, so how were we supposed to become friends? Whatever. It was better to focus on myself for now.
“Bro, I’m going to my room too, okay?”
“Sure.”
I quickly went into my room. I couldn’t believe I’d actually managed to get it. The room was comfortable and spacious, and I was so happy to finally have a decent room. My face felt warm, as if I were about to cry. The room looked much emptier now that Anisa’s belongings had been moved out.
I sprawled out on the large bed. Wow, it was incredibly soft. So this was what a rich person’s bed felt like. Even the main bed in the Jaya family’s house couldn’t compare. Once, while I was cleaning, I’d secretly climbed onto the bed at the Jaya family’s house. I’d only wanted to know what it felt like to lie on a bed like that. Yet here, in my real family’s home, I could easily get something ten times better. The difference between the two families felt even greater now. I couldn’t help imagining what would’ve happened if Anisa and I hadn’t been switched and she’d been raised by the Jaya family.
I got up and decided to take a shower to freshen up. I felt incredibly tired after putting on that whole drama earlier. It had really drained my energy.
