The Revenge Bride
Episode 1 — Five-Year Engagement
Scene 1 — New Town, Milan | Evening
Elena stood on the balcony, gazing at the house across the street. Just then, Jason's voice came from behind her.
Jason: Elena...
Elena turned around.
Elena: You're here?
Jason: Yeah. You've been calling me for so long. What happened?
Elena: How long have I been calling you?
Jason: Since your mom refused to let me come inside.
Elena: Mom refused to let you come inside?
Jason: Yeah. She said, “Set a wedding date with my daughter first, then come into the house.”
Elena laughed.
Elena: Good for her.
Jason: You're taking your mom's side too?
Elena: In this case, yes.
Jason: So you want me to marry you soon too?
Elena: I've wanted that for five years.
Jason said nothing.
Elena studied him closely.
Elena: Why did you suddenly get quiet?
Jason: It's nothing.
Elena: Jason...
Jason: Yeah?
Elena: We've been engaged for five years.
Jason: I know.
Elena: So when are we getting married?
Jason: Soon.
Elena: What does “soon” mean?
Jason: Just... a little more time.
Elena: You say that every time.
Jason: I really mean it this time.
Elena: You said the same thing last year.
Jason: Something came up with work this time.
Elena: What work? You don't even do anything.
Jason glared at her.
Jason: You've gotten pretty mouthy.
Elena: I've known you since we were kids. If I don't talk about you, who else am I supposed to talk about?
Jason smiled and came over to sit beside her.
Jason: Listen... what if I tell you the wedding date tomorrow?
Elena's eyes lit up.
Elena: Really?
Jason: Yeah.
Elena: Then I'll start preparing for the wedding right now.
Jason: You trust me that much?
Without thinking, Elena took his hand.
Elena: I've trusted you since we were kids.
Jason looked at her for a moment.
Then he looked away.
Hearing Elena say that didn't make him happy.
Because he knew he wasn't ready to marry her.
Scene 2 — The Old Street in New Town
The two families had lived across from each other in New Town, Milan, for years.
The old Rosewood family home stood on one side of the street, and Jason's house was directly across from it.
Elena and Jason had known each other since childhood.
At first, they played together.
Then they started going to school together.
And no one even noticed when they fell in love with each other.
They had gotten engaged five years earlier.
But the biggest reason for that engagement was Elena's older brother, Benjamin.
Benjamin and Jason were very close friends.
Jason's father also liked Benjamin very much.
He believed that Jason and Elena's marriage would bring the two families even closer.
At the time, Jason had also acted very loving toward Elena.
Elena trusted everything he said.
How could she have known that Jason had always kept his eye on other girls—especially rich and beautiful ones?
Jason liked going out, spending money, and chasing girls more than he liked working.
But in front of Elena, he always tried to look like a good man.
Scene 3 — The Rosewood Family Home
Elena walked inside.
Her younger brother Ryan was sitting on the couch.
Ryan: Sis, are you coming from Jason's house again?
Elena: Yeah.
Ryan: When are you getting married to him?
Elena: You're starting too?
Ryan: It's been five years, sis.
Elena: I know.
Ryan: So?
Elena: He said he'll do it soon.
Ryan laughed.
Ryan: How many years does “soon” mean?
Elena picked up a cushion and hit him with it.
Elena: Be quiet.
Just then, Annie came over.
Annie: What happened?
Ryan: Our sis's wedding got postponed again.
Annie: Really?
Elena: You two give me such a hard time.
Annie came over and sat beside her.
Annie: Sis, I want you to get married soon too.
Elena: Why?
Annie: Because then you'll move from our house into the house across the street. You won't even be going very far.
Elena laughed.
Elena: You crazy girl.
Just then, her stepmother's voice came from behind them.
Mom: Yes, you have to get married eventually.
Elena's smile disappeared.
Her stepmother had always made things difficult for her.
She didn't like Elena living in the house.
Mom: You've been sitting around engaged for five years. Who knows how long you'll keep being a burden on this family?
Ryan immediately stood up.
Ryan: Mom, why are you talking like that?
Mom: Don't interfere.
Annie fell silent too.
Elena said quietly—
Elena: Mom, I'm not the one holding up my wedding. Jason needs time too.
Mom: Time? Isn't five years long enough?
Elena: I'm trying.
Mom: Don't try. Get married and clear out of this house.
Elena said nothing.
Her stepmother continued—
Mom: The sooner you marry Jason and leave, the better.
Ryan got angry.
Ryan: Mom, Elena isn't a burden in this house.
Mom: Did I ask you anything?
Ryan: But—
Elena grabbed his hand.
Elena: Let it go, Ryan.
Annie quietly came and sat beside Elena.
Annie: Sis, don't go anywhere.
Elena looked at her and tried to smile.
Elena: I'll keep coming to see you even after I get married.
Scene 4 — That Night
Elena was sitting in her room.
A message from Jason appeared on her phone.
Jason: “We need to meet tomorrow. It's important.”
A smile spread across Elena's face.
Elena: “Are you going to tell me the wedding date?”
A little while later, his reply came.
Jason: “Maybe.”
Elena pressed the phone to her chest.
That was enough for her.
But Jason wasn't in his room.
He was sitting at an expensive club in the city.
A wealthy girl was sitting across from him.
Girl: Jason, you said you were single.
Jason laughed.
Jason: When did I say that?
Girl: You said you didn't have a girlfriend.
Jason: That's different.
Girl: What do you mean?
Jason placed his phone on the table.
Elena's message was displayed on the screen.
He turned the phone facedown.
Jason: There are a lot of things going on in my life. Just stay with me for now.
The girl smiled.
Looking at her, Jason thought—
“If I don't marry Elena, Benjamin will never forgive me.”
The truth was, Jason hadn't gotten engaged to Elena five years earlier because he loved her.
At the time, he needed Benjamin.
Benjamin's family and Jason's father had a major deal underway.
Jason knew that if he married Elena, he could gain both the family's trust and their money.
But now he saw another opportunity.
An opportunity that could make him extremely rich.
Scene 5 — Jason's House
The next morning, Jason came home.
His mother was sitting on the couch.
Mom: Where were you all night?
Jason: I was with friends.
Mom: Again?
Jason: Mom, I'm not a child.
Mom: You're not a child, but you don't understand responsibility either.
Jason remained silent.
His mother said—
Mom: Elena is a very good girl. Don't keep her waiting any longer.
Jason: Mom, don't start too.
Mom: I'm not starting anything. It's been five years.
Jason: I'll marry her.
Mom: When?
Jason had no answer.
Just then, his father came inside.
Dad: Jason, I spoke with Benjamin today.
Jason immediately looked at him.
Dad: He's coming to Milan in a few days.
Concern appeared on Jason's face.
Jason: Benjamin is coming?
Dad: Yes. And he said to set a wedding date for you and Elena.
Jason fell silent.
His mother smiled.
Mom: Well, now you have no excuses left.
Jason lowered his head.
Scene 6 — The Next Day | The Old House
Elena was standing outside the house, waiting for Jason.
After a while, Jason arrived.
Elena: You asked me to come.
Jason: Yeah.
Elena: What is it?
Jason looked around.
Jason: Elena... if I tell you something, will you trust me?
Elena: Yes.
Jason: No matter how serious it is?
Elena: Yes.
Jason looked at her.
Then he spoke quietly—
Jason: Your wedding...
Elena's eyes lit up.
Elena: Our wedding?
Jason was silent for a few seconds.
Jason: Yes... our wedding.
Elena smiled happily.
She never imagined that such a devastating betrayal would soon enter her life in the name of this love.
And Jason...
Even then, he wasn't telling her the truth.
Jason: You'll find out everything in a few days.
Elena: I'll wait.
Jason took her hand.
But this time, Elena didn't feel love in his touch...
She felt something else.
Even so, she ignored the feeling.
Because she loved Jason.
More than anything.
How could she have known that within just a few days, this very man would sell her to someone else...
All for money.
The End.
