"You're so slow. Can't you walk any faster?" Dania complained to Dira.
"Sorry," Dira replied as she carried the food she'd just finished cooking to the dining table.
Tsk...
"Come on, eat, Uncle and Auntie," Dania said, suddenly turning sweet and gentle toward the two strangers in front of her.
"Oh, thanks. Are you the new maid?" Aunt Sila asked, looking at Dira, who kept her head bowed.
"No, she's been here a long time. She just works in the back, so she rarely comes into the main house," Dania quickly lied about Dira's status.
Talia's parents didn't know that Arka was already married, so they still maintained a good relationship with Arka's family and considered Arka the perfect future son-in-law. But if they found out, they definitely wouldn't allow Talia to be with Arka.
"What's your name, dear?" Aunt Sila asked.
"M-my name is Dira, ma'am," Dira answered with her head lowered.
"Oh, Dira. What a pretty name. Why are you a maid? You're so beautiful," Aunt Sila praised.
Dira only offered an awkward smile, unsure how to respond to a compliment from her husband's girlfriend's mother.
"Mom, come on. She's just a maid. Why do you have to praise her?" Talia complained.
"Hey, don't say that. Even if Dira's a maid, she's still just like us!" Aunt Sila scolded.
Talia's lips suddenly turned into a sulk after her mother reprimanded her.
Arka's family saw Talia sulking and immediately shot Dira sharp looks.
"Leave!" Moreno ordered.
"Yes, sir," Dira replied, lowering her head as she walked back into the kitchen without looking behind her.
"All right, all right, she's gone. The only woman worthy of standing beside Arka and becoming his wife is you, sweetheart. Don't sulk like that. I don't care what you say, you're the most beautiful," Binar said, trying to calm Talia down.
"Huh... Is there another woman?" Bima asked, confused by what Binar had said.
Dira's heart lurched.
"Oh, no. I was just speaking hypothetically. But it's absolutely impossible. Arka is a loyal man," Binar quickly denied, smiling as she tried to convince them.
"Come on, eat. Don't talk about anything strange," Moreno said.
They went back to eating Dira's cooking.
What was even more shocking was how much Talia's parents and younger sibling loved the food Dira had prepared. Talia grew even more furious as her parents continued praising Dira, even though Dira wasn't there.
Several hours later...
Smack!
"Ahhh!" Dira cried out when Arka suddenly slapped her.
"Why did you slap me? What was that for?!" Dira asked in shock as Arka slapped her just when she was about to rest.
"I told you never to come into the main house when my future in-laws are here. Are you deaf?!" Arka raged.
"I know, Honey! But Mom was the one who told me to come in!" Dira shot back.
"Ughhh..."
"Your fault made my girlfriend cry, you ungrateful woman! Remember, you're only a maid here, nothing more. Even if you are bound to me, remember that you're only a maid in this house, Dira!" Arka shouted, relentlessly emphasizing the word "maid." Dira grew increasingly distraught and frustrated.
Arka left Dira in her room, and a few seconds later...
"Sign it!" Arka ordered firmly.
"Honey!" Dira whispered.
"There's one trillion on that card, so you can blow the money however you want. You won't lose anything, so I hope you'll let me go. You're not worth holding on to!" Arka said.
Dira glanced at the divorce papers lying on the floor. Unwilling to waste time waiting for Dira's response, Arka left without saying another word.
Dira picked up the papers and read what was written on the white sheet.
"One trillion!" Dira exclaimed, her smile widening as her eyes filled with happiness...
"Fine!"
