“Dad, I want to be the director!” Matheo exclaimed.
“No, I should be the director!” Leon objected.
For the umpteenth time, Ronald was irritated by his two sons’ argument. He shifted his attention to Antares, his youngest son, who was considered a useless slacker. The twenty-three-year-old hadn’t said a word all this time, focusing solely on his food.
“Antares, aren’t you going to fight for a position at the company?” he asked.
Antares lazily glanced at his father. “Why should I fight for it? It’s just a waste of time!”
Matheo and Leon were stunned. They exchanged glances before laughing. Just as they had expected, the slacker wasn’t going to get involved and had no interest in a position at the company.
“Hey, slacker! You can have fun now because Dad’s still alive! Once he’s gone, you’ll end up homeless on the streets!” Leon teased.
“I’m not taking in a useless slacker!” Matheo added.
Antares merely rolled his eyes. In his opinion, getting a position at the company was the same as becoming a scapegoat. If something happened at the company, of course the person responsible would be whoever held a high position.
“Whatever! I’m not interested in any position at Arthur Corp!” he said lazily.
“Ha-ha-ha!” Leon laughed. “Then what do you want? Have fun at KTV or get drunk?”
“You’re really disgracing the Arthur family name!”
“Are you sure I do nothing but have fun all day?” he asked with a mocking smile.
Matheo looked down at his youngest brother. “If you’re not having fun, then what else are you doing? A slacker like you couldn’t possibly have the ability to stand on your own!”
His eldest brother’s contemptuous gaze had no effect on him whatsoever. To Antares, that look of contempt and scorn was nothing more than a bland snack.
“Antares, your name was taken from a bright star, but your future isn’t nearly as bright as your name!” Leon mocked.
“Leonardo, your name was taken from famous people, but your only talent is stealing other people’s inheritance rights and making the company lose money!” he shot back, his gaze challenging.
“You!” Leon clenched his jaw and pointed at Antares, barely restraining his anger.
“How does this slacker know when even Dad doesn’t?” Leon wondered. He stared at the Arthur family’s slacker, searching for clues, but found nothing suspicious.
“No! It’s probably just a coincidence!” he muttered.
“It has to be a coincidence! A slacker like him couldn’t possibly have the ability to dig up secrets!” He tried to calm himself, even though his heart was now troubled and uneasy. If his secret was truly exposed, his inheritance rights would be revoked immediately.
“Hey, I was just kidding! Why are you so tense?” Antares asked.
“Kidding? Your joke wasn’t funny, Antares!” Matheo scolded.
“Why are you getting so angry? As a businessman, isn’t it normal to suffer losses? Don’t tell me you think people who fail are useless?” he accused.
“Enough! All three of you, stop arguing!”
“All three of you are still my sons! Matheo, because your leadership skills are good enough, I’m appointing you vice CEO. Leon, you’ll be a manager!”
Matheo smiled with satisfaction, while Leon’s face darkened like the night sky. He had wanted the position of director, but instead he got manager—a position far below what he had expected.
“What about this slacker?” Leon asked, pointing at Antares.
“Since he doesn’t want a position, then let him be!” As usual, Ronald gave Antares a black card. Even though his son was a slacker, he still had to be fair to all his children.
“Money?” Matheo chuckled. “Money can run out! If you don’t work, it’s worthless!”
“Whether it’s worth something or not isn’t for you to decide!” Antares shot back.
“What a bunch of idiots!” he sneered inwardly.
