"Hey, slacker!" Leon slapped Antares on the shoulder.
"You still have a chance. If you're still useless, your fiancée is sure to be embarrassed!"
Antares didn't respond. He merely rolled his eyes and walked away. As far as he was concerned, his engagement to Alicia wasn't his choice—it was his grandfather's.
"What's the point of holding on to a girl like Alicia?" he wondered.
His steps stopped at the front door. His gaze fixed on the Maybach parked right in front of the Arthur family's house. A beautiful girl in tight-fitting clothes stepped out of the car. It was Alicia, his fiancée, who hadn't shown up once in the past two years.
"So you finally decided to show up!" He smiled, but not because he was happy.
"I wonder what brings you here," he muttered.
Alicia hadn't come alone. She was accompanied by a man. The two of them walked side by side, holding hands.
"Oh, you're Antares, right?" Her voice rang out clearly.
"Let me introduce you! This is my future husband, Wiliam Sky!"
"Well, then, I hope you two are happy!" Antares replied, without a trace of anger or jealousy in his eyes.
"You... you're not angry?" Alicia asked in surprise.
Antares smiled as he slipped both hands into his pockets. "Why should I care? I was never interested in our engagement in the first place. We might as well call it off!"
"You—don't tell me you've been cheating on me behind my back?" Alicia accused him.
"Cheating?" Antares laughed. "You disappeared for two years and came back with your future husband. Who do you think cheated, and who got cheated on?"
"I... I was just looking for a backup plan! You never even touched me! What's wrong with finding another man who's more capable?" Alicia shot back.
"Fine! Then let's call it off! I don't like cheap women like you!"
Antares snatched the engagement contract Alicia had brought with her. Without hesitation, he tore it up and tossed it into the trash.
"I threw away the engagement contract I had a long time ago!" He pulled out his phone and started recording. "As of today, we have nothing to do with each other anymore!"
"You—you dare call off our engagement?" Alicia shouted.
"Sweetheart, don't pay any attention to him! That slacker from the Arthur family is just putting on an act! He might come crawling back tomorrow or three days from now, begging you to take him back!" Wiliam chimed in.
"Why bother with a slacker like him? Our wedding is next week!" Wiliam wrapped an arm around Alicia's waist and kissed the woman's small lips in front of Antares.
"As we agreed, I'll satisfy you tonight!" he said.
"Really?" Alicia's eyes sparkled. She had waited two years for that moment—two whole years—but Antares had never come to her or invited her out. After two years, someone would finally fulfill her desire.
"Tch. Disgusting!" Antares ended the recording. This time, he saved not only an audio recording but also a video as irrefutable evidence.
"As agreed! You have to hand over the four percent stake that belongs to me!" Alicia demanded.
"Shares? Sorry, Miss, but I've never owned any shares in Arthur Corp! Everything was seized and split between my wonderful older brothers!"
"Damn it!" Alicia stomped her foot in frustration. She never imagined that the once-wealthy son of the Arthur family wouldn't own a single share.
"Oh, so you've been deceiving me all this time?"
"Deceiving you? Hey, Miss! When did I ever say I owned shares? You were the one getting your hopes up!" Antares retorted.
"Focus on your future husband! I don't want to marry a cheap woman who's already been touched so thoroughly by another man!"
"Antares! Who are you calling cheap?" Alicia yelled.
"If you're not cheap, then what should I call you? You're only engaged, and you're already ready to sleep in the same bed! It wouldn't be a problem if the man sleeping with you was willing to take responsibility, but if he runs away, who knows what will happen to you!" he explained.
"Hope you're happy, Alicia!"
