Yudha could only grit his teeth and hold back his anger. Over the past few years, he had become addicted to gambling. In just three years, almost all the money in his account had vanished. Because of that, his account was frozen and all his privileges were revoked. On top of that, debt collectors were always chasing him and demanding repayment.
“Why are you still here?”
The question snapped him out of his thoughts. He glared at Antares, his eyes filled with rage. In his mind, an urge surfaced to take everything his friend possessed.
“If you don’t give me money, I’ll report you to Alicia. I’ll tell her you cheated on her at the KTV!” he threatened.
Antares’s gaze turned cold as ice. His smile slowly vanished, replaced by a completely expressionless face. “Go ahead! We don’t have anything to do with each other anymore!”
“Don’t joke around! You’ve loved Alicia since high school! I don’t believe you called off the engagement!” Yudha protested.
“What does that have to do with you? You’re just some kid who was disowned by the Irawan family and is drowning in tens of millions in debt! Leave on your own, or face the consequences!”
Yudha didn’t respond. The man turned around and left the KTV with a sour look on his face. Unfortunately for him, two thugs were already waiting in the parking lot of KTV Galaksi.
Wham!
Without warning, one of the thugs punched him. The other immediately restrained him so he couldn’t fight back.
Thud … thud.
The thugs continued beating him. Once they were satisfied, they kicked him like worthless trash. Forget fighting back—even moving was nearly impossible.
“This is a warning! Your debt must be paid in full by tomorrow! And don’t forget the interest!” The dreadlocked thug stomped on Yudha’s chest, then left with his companion.
“Interest? Since when did my debt—accrue interest?” Yudha got up and stared at the two thugs who had just beaten him.
The dreadlocked thug stopped walking. “You borrowed money at a high interest rate. The principal is fifty million, but the interest is one hundred million!” he explained.
“One hundred million?” Yudha nearly fainted when he heard that. He didn’t even have fifty million, and now he had to pay another one hundred million in interest.
“Yudha, Yudha! You don’t even know something this simple!” Antares approached him with a mocking smile. “Loan sharks have always charged high interest since ancient times!”
“They tricked me! The agreement didn’t mention any interest!” Yudha protested.
“Agreement? Agreements can be changed however they want. You could call it karma for bullying other people’s children back in the day,” Antares explained.
“Then give me money!”
“Still begging?” The corner of his mouth curved into a faint smile. “Yudha, if you want money, ask your father! If you keep forcing me, I’ll break the bones in your arms and legs!”
“You!” Yudha gritted his teeth, then left while enduring the pain from the two thugs’ beating.
“My money is far too valuable to give to a gambler like you!” he muttered.
“Being too stupid cost you everything, Yudha Irawan!” Antares turned around and went back into the KTV. This time, he went straight upstairs and enjoyed the view of the city.
“Pretending all the time is really exhausting!”
He pulled out his phone, intending to play a game for a while. Unfortunately, before he could start, someone called him. Naturally, it annoyed him so much that he nearly threw his phone.
“Young Master, come back quickly! Miss Alicia’s father and mother have arrived!” The butler’s voice came through loud and clear.
“The Wijaya family? I’d like to know what Alicia is planning this time!” He hung up, then hurried out of the KTV. Honestly, whatever the Wijaya family was planning was none of his concern. The only thing on his mind now was his father’s good name and reputation.
“If it weren’t for Dad, I wouldn’t bother meeting the Wijaya family!” he muttered.
