“Oh my God… why does my life have to be like this??”
Aleandra let out a long sigh and turned away from the door she had been staring at for several minutes, now closed.
She still couldn’t process what had just happened.
“I thought I was going to die here,” she murmured. “I still can’t believe that man let me live.”
And who could blame her? Aleandra still couldn’t believe that, only moments ago, her life had been in danger after she admitted that she wasn’t actually Alegra.
She knew all too well how cruel Issac Limano could be. He never forgave anyone who disappointed or angered him. Yet at the same time, Aleandra felt that something was off.
The woman frowned. “Is he actually insane? Because my family and I did deceive him.”
Meanwhile, Issac walked briskly with a grim expression, straightening his slightly disheveled clothes as Ben followed behind him.
“What happened? Didn’t I tell you not to let anything disturb me?!” Issac demanded, his gaze fixed straight ahead.
Lowering his head, Ben replied, “I’m sorry, Sir. The situation was under control at first, but then they suddenly showed up.”
“Who are they?” Issac’s voice rose slightly, clearly displeased with the situation.
“We’re still confirming that, Sir.”
Issac clicked his tongue in annoyance. He hated anyone who dared disturb his rest, especially when he had finally been enjoying time with the woman he had wanted for so long—who was now his.
They reached the hotel’s main lobby, and sure enough, the situation there was far from calm. A brawl had broken out between several of his subordinates on guard and a few strangers dressed in black.
“Damn it! I really hate wasting time!”
His eyes then caught sight of a tall man dressed entirely in black, a hat on his head, walking toward him.
“Who are you?” Issac narrowed his eyes, but received no answer.
When the man stood directly in front of him, Issac tried to identify him, but failed because the stranger was wearing a black mask that covered part of his face.
“Where’s Aleandra?”
The question that escaped the man’s mouth immediately made Issac chuckle.
“Who? Did I hear that wrong?” Issac exhaled harshly.
“Where is she? I’m taking her back because she doesn’t belong to you,” the man said again.
Issac flew into a rage. His anger burned hotter the moment the stranger mentioned his woman’s name.
“How funny. You make a scene and interrupt my rest just to take her back, even though she’s now legally my wife,” he said. “Aren’t you ashamed of yourselves?”
The stranger fell silent, but he wasn’t intimidated. He clearly had no intention of giving up.
“She doesn’t belong to you. The woman you married isn’t your wife.”
“Are you her parent? Her guardian? And what right do you have over that woman?” Issac pressed.
For a moment, there was no answer. Issac then smiled mockingly.
“I’m in a good mood tonight, so you’d better leave peacefully before I change my mind.”
The atmosphere instantly grew tense, and all of his subordinates appeared ready for a fight.
Suddenly, the stranger pulled down the cloth covering part of his face. Issac’s eyes narrowed at once, as if scrutinizing the man before him.
“Darren Wijaksana?” he thought. “The library guy.”
Issac raised one eyebrow and smiled coldly.
“So it’s you.”
Yes, Issac knew exactly who the man was—the figure who had always been by Aleandra’s side since they were teenagers, who had always kept her company whenever she was at the library, and who was also one of the men Issac disliked because he was the only man who could always make Aleandra smile.
